Re: UK Free Trade Deal with Turkey.

But where is the "oven ready deal" we were promised?
I thought we were assured these trade deals were going to be easy, wasn't it Liam Fox who assured us it was going to happen?
Still whistling in the dark.
What a powerhouse we are, advised to eat out to solve all our economic problems.

https://www.aa.com.tr/en/economy/exp...20in%20imports.

There must be something Turkey imports from the UK.

The trade volume between Turkey and the U.K. in 2018 was $18.5 billion second only to Germany with Ankara exporting $11.1 billion to the U.K. and receiving $7.4 billion in imports. This was a 15.7% increase in exports and 13.7% increase in imports for Turkey in comparison to the previous year.

Turkey will not want to risk its trade surplus with the U.K. and as such wants to be at the front of the line to strike a trade deal with Britain. With its exports to the U.K increasing, Turkey is one of the countries with the most to lose from a no-deal Brexit.

Re: UK Free Trade Deal with Turkey.

Arms and plastic waste are the only things that I can come up with. Lots of things going the other way including 170 000 cars pa, Beko products and hazlenuts

Re: UK Free Trade Deal with Turkey.

I thought the deal with Turkey is simply a "continuity deal" and with continuity deals it’s not so much about gains to GDP. As we had already gained from these agreements whilst a member of the EU the hope is continuing those gains -- and more about stemming the any losses .....due to leaving ....
