Facilities in Akbuk
We are coming to Akbuk on 30th July 2007 for 3 weeks to stay at our new property in Olive Gardens. Can anyone give me any information about facilities there. We came in October when we bought property. At that time it was exceptionally quiet because late in season. Just wondering how busy or not busy it gets at peak time.
The actual view we had from our duplex sold us the property but now we need to know what other attributes Akbuk has to offer.
Any information would be greatly appreciated but one piece of information that my teenage son would like to know 'is there an internet cafe in Akbuk?'

Re: Facilities in Akbuk
Akbuk should be busier now, because the Turkish holidays should begin this weekend. Akbuk is not very busy most of the time, as it's mostly a Turkish family resort, they tend to relax and have BBQs instead of partying (for which you will need to go to Altinkum)
There are now couple of bars and few restaurants near the centre so you should have enough to keep you busy.
During summer there is a funfair near the beach, not sure when they start though this year.
There is an Internet cafe near the Akguller supermarket in the centre.
Have fun and relax, maybe do some fishing and swimming, you are not far from the sea.

Akbuk is quiet, but the bus service is brill and it is only about 20 mins to altinkum which is a lot more active. If Olive Gardens is where I think it is you are just a short walk from the main road in which the bus (dolmus) travels. the cost of the bus in very cheap about 3 lira. We have bought in yasmin gardens which I think is not far from you our build is ready in December and like you we are new to akbuk only haveing visited a few times, its a lovely place, quiet and peaceful and I am sure you will love it.

Re: Facilities in Akbuk
Hope you enjoyed your stay in lovely Akbuk..
My wife and I moved to Akbuk with our two children in March and love the peace and quiet along with the lovely blue bay..
This will be our first winter in Akbuk but we are sure there will be more to do in the near future as there are lots of new builds so next year should be fun!

Re: Facilities in Akbuk
I want to say that this forum is a fantastic insight into life in Akbuk.
We have bought a Duplex at Karia Residence-Due for completion end May 08 and we are both visiting for two weeks early June.
The more i read the more i want to read and the more excited about the thought of holidays/Retirement appeals to us.
I am not proficient at posting threads so i hope this works
Thanks&Best Whishes to all

MUSHTAC,
I have just read your thread about taking it easy and relaxing in Akbuk with FISHING etc.
My daughter is buying me a sea fishing kit for me to leave in our appartment to help me relax-HOWEVER I have read that as a tourist/non resident you are expected to buy a permit for 150YTL before you can legally fish????
Is this correct??
So much for fishing and relaxing- I cannot AFFORD to fish!!!

Re: Facilities in Akbuk
Hi Mike, yes it seems it is true that everyone that fishes must have a license. As you say it,s 150ytl for us and 5ytl for locals and is valid for 2 years. We do seem to get ripped off for many things, it,s not going to be as cheap to live as i was lead to believe. Oh by the way if caught fishing without a license fines have been given out between 500ytl and 1500ytl. So be careful.
