I have always found Turkish friends as well in Altinkum ... quite a few who have also lived in Germany like me, so that is something important in common ....
And the lingo is then not a problem.

I would pm the member searching for the property, your mobile number is at risk on an open forum.

Maybe the answer is to get some Turkish friends? Maybe I have been lucky, but have always found friendship amongst the people in Altinkum.

Re: I am looking to buy 2 bed....

They do have Turkish friends too Eliza but their Turkish language is not too good, although they have lessons and have been living there for over 11 years. When you get older it is harder to learn a language ! They are thinking of putting their lovely villa on the market to see if it sells but they are not too worried if it doesn't. Their plan maybe to buy a motor home and travel in Spain for the time being. Buying in the U.K.is not an option financially.

Well, I hope they find a lifestyle that suits them! I am slightly worried now about the Turkish aspect, one reason I chose Turkey is because I am translator by profession and just do not want to learn another language now --- but I was hoping to get by with English .... and this can be nice for the Turks took because most of them want to practise their English anyway. I also speak fluent German, and found quite a few Turkish people in Altinkum had lived in Germany and I could communicate that way .....
It just occurs to me, if your friends really want to come back to the UK, they should try the north-east, property is available for under 100,000 K here (nice two bedroom flats or a house in a not-so-posh but upcoming area ....
And there is no problem with finding extremely friendly people here. Slight language barrier (!) but learning Geordie is a bit easier than Turkish, I would say .....
