Re: E Bikes

I was supposed to go to the Notre yesterday to register it before getting a licence plate and insurance only to discover it first has to be M.O.Td which will now happen in Didim between the 15th and 20th January when the M.O.t people arrive. Damn just one thing after another. But that's Turkey for you, why make anything simple if it can be complicated.

Have tried that until I'm blue in the face, if you or anyone can find the specs it would be much appreciated. I am also looking for a sliding front seat which is fitted on 2 round pegs ( I think that is standard)

Make: ST-MAX
Model: GF980

Re: E Bikes

OF, you need the insurance to get the MOT but I cannot see how they can insure the bike without a plate number. The first think must be to get it registered with the traffic police.

But I can't get insurance until it's been registered at the Notre, I just seem to be going around in circles, I need someone who KNOWS what the routine and procedure is.
I don't think the shop I bought it from has a clue.
Maybe Ray at Hero's on Ataturk Blvd will help.
Just waiting for the rain to subside then I'll take a run over there but sofar he has been closed since the New Year.

[B]EDIT[/B:] Just phoned Ray and he will be open tomorrow.
But for the registration etc, what he is saying is that the changes have to be completed by the original owner and the shop might not now know the details of the original owner, then it goes to the Notre followed by the traffic police.
YEP very confusing.

Re: E Bikes

Generally the sale would be registered at the Noter, but the bike would be registerd at the traffic police. I think you would need the document from the sale to register the bike. What I would do is to find a takipci (sometimes called a Komisiyoncu (they have offices next to or near insurance offices. they deal with the following up of car and bike sale, registration and getting the plates, for a small fee. they would know, or know who to ask. When we bought out last car second hand, after the sale at the noter we went to a takipci. met him next morning at the traffic dept (some docs can only be signed by th new owner), he took my phone number and said I will call when it is sorted a good lunch later I got a call, all was sorted; he handed over the plates and I think I paid him 30TL (three years ago).

Re: E Bikes

D'you know when you see films like Smokey and the bandit , where the sheriff can't follow the Bandit over the state line because it's out of his jurisdiction
Well it's a bit like that here, all the various different regions have different laws and what is perfectly normal in one area is often never heard of by the authorities in another

I am pretty sure that all the young kids (some as young as 12) don't have insurance, certainly don't have plates yet a lot of their bikes are over the threshold, re top speed
I was told the law hasn't filtered down to here yet , I drive round town and have gone past/been overtaken by numerous traffic polis and as a joke, this is my number plate

BTW, tried registering mine with the polis and they hadn't got a clue what I was on about................I have only ever seen 2 electric bikes with plates which were not from round here (Didim has 09 as it's first numbers)

A Police car with his blue & red lights flashing came behind me on Marina road yesterday then overtook and pulled in front of me outside U2 Bar, fortunately he was just picking up his buddy, and not about to hand me a fine. But we will get there eventually.
