Have you thought about having a kitten in your life?

In late April, an undernourished and starving cat came to my door crying and weak. I could not ignore the poor creature so I gave her some food which she wolfed down! About two weeks later, she gave birth to 5 kittens under a rose bush in my garden.
I got such a lot of smart comments, why are you feeding them? and you should drown them? what have you drawn on us?
I have been cooking chicken and liver to get the mother strong again. I have also got her and the kittens on to dry food. I have taken them all to the vet and got them treated by him for flees and worms. They are all now thriving and socialised.
My problem is I have to leave Turkey soon. I'll be pet minding for a family in early July. I have one neighbour who will be coming here on holiday and will feed them for two weeks but after that I'm at a loss at what to do. I have advertised for homes for them since day one but there has been no response. The mother cat did not do well on the street, with cuts and her bones protruding. She is good now but I'm so worried for the little kittens. They are healthy and strong and love to play together. At the moment they have a wonderful life. They are so easy to have and two together would be great company for each other and would fill someone's life with moments of complete joy!
I can't take them with me, we will be travelling over the next 5 years between three countries. I will get the mother cat spayed soon so at least the cycle will stop here for at least one cat. They are well used to being outside, they have their own little cat house and the garden is reasonably secure because we are so near the main road. They are 8 weeks old today.
If anyone is thinking of having a kitten or two about their garden, please PM me here. I live in hope!!!

Re: Have you thought about having a kitten in your life?

Thank you Tintagel,
It's not looking good at all, there has been no response whatsoever to any of my adverts and I keep on seeing more people in the same situation as myself, all looking for homes for kittens. What is so distressing is some peoples attitude of "just put them on the street and let them starve to death".
I live in hope every day that someone will soon come forward to adopt one or two of these beautiful creatures. I hold them in my arms and they look at me with their trusting gentle little eyes that say "I love you Mummy" and I'm so close to tears.....

Have you tried asking for help from Animal Shelters' a little further away from you yet? If not, it's worth a try - Good Luck

I have an adopted house cat, she doesn't like any competition for my affections, animal or human! She's had to learn to accept my human guests & friends but I don't think she'd take kindly to any four legged furries visiting or moving in

A bit too far of a journey for me, but you may get more response with cute pictures, people warm to cuteness more than just words.
