Re: my moggy
I posted this earlier taken from cyprus turkish airlines brochure on the plane when I flew with them in February
DOMESTIC PETS
In the flights of CTA, domestic animals are transported.During the check-in process domestic animals such as cats, dogs and birds are accepted.Passengers are permitted to take their domestic animals into the cabinet with them provided that they do not exceed 5 kg with their cages or boxes. The boxes should be no larger than 55 x 40 x 20 cm and should be waterproof. Passengers are not permitted to take more than two domestic animals into the cabinet. Since there is no plane in our fleet that restricts the transportation of domestic animals, passengers should inform the officers about the intention about carrying domestic animals while making their reservation for the flight.

Re: my moggy
Yes, I brought my three cats with me when I moved here. I contacted Par Air Services who actually transported my cats from my home to their cattery, thence to Gatwick. They flew on the same flight as me. I had to take them all to the vet for vaccinations including rabies. We had to get certificates, etc. from DEFRA. Quite painless. All went well with no problems.

Re: my moggy
Can't remember how much it cost now - think it was about £800 for all three - including collection from my home, three nights in a cattery, travel boxes, delivery to Gatwick and flight to Dalaman. They were all fine. No problems at all. They had never been in a cattery before, let alone in an aircraft.
The funniest part was when the man came to collect them (complete with wooden crates to put them in) and all three tried to get out of the cat flap at the same time!
First thing you need to do is go to your vet and he/she will guide you through all the procedures. They may even recommend a pet carrier, but if not, try Par Air, or the one KKOB recommended.

Turkish Airlines also allow you to take the cat into the cabin with you as hand luggage. You have to book the cat in when you book your ticket - only 1 cat per flight allowed - and there is no charge. Rigby will be flying with me next April, I have just ordered a special soft sided carrier for him. He's an oriental cat so quite small - a really big cat might be uncomfortable in a hand-luggage sized carrier.
I have decided to fly Business class to ensure that we have lots of room for him to be at my feet (Rigby thinks this is much more suitable than economy!!and hopes for smoked salmon!!!). We will have to change Terminals in Istanbul and I will have to sweet-talk my way into a secure office to let him stretch his legs and have a "comfort break" (will take a disposable litter tray with me!). Because he is elderly (12) and quite nervous I have decided that this is a better option than putting him in the hold, also cheaper!!
