Angora Cats
I am interested in getting a Turkish Angora cat. Any information on availability, pedigree certification, price would be useful.
I know the Turkish Govt has a breeding programme to protect the breed, but I am not aware of how you check the lineage.

Re: Angora Cats
Ian,
The Ankara Zoo breeds the Angora Cats might be worth getting in touch with them.

Re: Angora Cats
there are a few forums for turkish cat owners..mostly Van cats.
ive seen them for sale in the Mısır Çarşı istanbul..theres a section for all sorts of animals.
i think you would also be able to get info from breeders in the uk who will have contacts with turkish breeders.
its a beautiful looking cat...needs a lot of grooming as you know.

Re: Angora Cats
İ have one and she is GORGEOUS. She has no papers but İ don't care. They are wonderful cats. But be prepared for a very noisy and nosy attention seeker who will latch on to one family member and devote him/herself to worshipping them forever. Have a look in my photos for a few photos of Maddy my little monster
p.s. that is not Maddy in my avator but it's a good likeness -esp the beer swilling hehe

Re: Angora Cats
I have heard about their devotion to 'owner' and wonder how well an older cat accepts a change of owner. Perhaps it is better to go for a kitten?
I am having problems locating any Angora cats, so I have put an advert in the local paper.

Re: Angora Cats
OK. They have been here a week. The one at the back is a few weeks older than the other.
They are both from the Turkish Govt breeding prog at Ankara Zoo.
