Taking my cat to Turkey from England?Time?Price?
Hello
Please can someone tell me how much an export visa costs and takes?I have one cat who I will be taking to Turkey.I asked at my vets and they did not know and gave me a leaflet.I emailed people on leaflet and they did not know and told me to email another person. They said they would send me info on time it takes and prices and info.I got a form that did not answer any of these questions at all.How long does it all take? How much is it?Does my cat have to go into quarantine at Turkey? If yes how much does it cost?Any info about taking a cat to Turkey from the Uk would be wonderful....
Thanks
Rachel.

I have been looking at the dog side of this and there are plenty who have already done this who will have more info. I think with a cat it is small enough to travel in the plane with you. You need to sort out vaccinations and paperwork and there are companies that will do it for you.
1 animal per person travelling on the same flight. Have you tried the search facility at the top of the page as I am sure it will bring something up for you.

Someone was discusing this a while back.
If you do a search you should find something.
From what I remember you can take a cat in the cabin with you as handluggage with certain airlines.
I can't remember the rest of the details tho'
Sorry - not much help there !!!!

Re: Taking my cat to Turkey from England?Time?Price?
Hi Rachel. We brought two cats with us on Turkish Airlines 15 months ago.One cat PER COUPLE is allowed in the Cabin with you and our other one had to go into the Hold.(Heated)Both are charged as excess baggage and we paid around 90-00 GBP.for the two.If your cat weigh's over 4KG. (with cage) then it will have to travel in the hold. You do not need an export licence but you must have all the relevant Injections etc. and Paper Work to support this.Your Local Vet will give you all the details. When we arrived in Turkey, nobody looked at the cats or asked for paper work etc.Nor do they have to go into Quarantine,we took them straight from the Airport to the House. There is a time period from having the injections I think 3 weeks before they are allowed to travel.Turkish Airline in Manchester were very good but they will want to look at your paper work.Charter Flights do not carry Pets. You also have to give them ,from memory,One Months notice of your intended Departure date.So you will have had to book your flight by then.Hope that I have answered some of your questions.

Re: Taking my cat to Turkey from England?Time?Price?
These are the results of my web search for you.
1.It is possible to bring a pet into Turkey with its own passport. However, on returning to the UK you would be subject to quarantine laws.
2.There are no problems, with bringing pets with you both as long as you obtain a "pet passport" and have the proof of all the vaccinations.
Also,
My sister moved two cats from US to Turkey and there was no problem. I think airline charges might be different from UK but from here was around $25-30 for each cat. I can find out more details from her later. For now that is all I can find.
Good luck. Felix will love Turkey.

Re: Taking my cat to Turkey from England?Time?Price?
The following are required for those who wish to take pets (dog, cat etc.) to Turkey:
a) Pet’s Certificate of Origin.
b) A Veterinary Health Certificate issued minimum 15 days prior to depature and 3 months prior to entry into the country stating that the he’s is in good health.
Dogs must be vaccinated against rabies, parva, distemper, hepatitis and leptospiroz.
Cats must be vaccinated against rabies.
Vaccination must be done minimum of 3 months before travel.
c) On entry both certificates must be presented to an official veterinary on duty.
I brought my cat from Canada and I also phoned the airline I was flying to see what they required for pet documention.KLM told me that I need to go to Agricultre Canada to have my cats veterinary papers stamped to say that my cat meet all the required entrance regulations to fly to Turkey. On KLM I was allowed one pet only in the cabin as they have restrictions on how many animals can fly in the cabin but including the pet carrier the pet had to weigh 4 kilos or less and my cat is more.To fly in cargo they have to have an airline approved carrier with enough room to move and a litter box.KLM has a special hold for pets so that they are kept at a comfortable tempature during the flight.I had 12 hr. stop over in Amsterdam and my cat was taken to KLM's "pet hotel" to be feed and let out in an enclosed area to stretch his legs.KLM informed in Vancouver after I got on the plane that they had loaded my cat and in Amsterdam when departing the plane they again informed me of my cats condition and again getting back on the plane they informed me when he was loaded in cargo again.Upon arrival in Istanbul I collected my cat and had the papers ready waiting for customs to see them but they never bothered to stop me at all.
Regarding costs
2 vet appointments for shots and health exams and paper work $130 CAD
Agricultre Canada approval stamp $40 CAD
Tigers "ticket" Vancouver to Istanbul $175 CAD
I do know you are flying from the UK but I thought this would be of help to you. Azra P.S. We came in September 2005.

Hi Rachel.Sorry I gave you a Bum Steer yesterday. You do need an Export Licence but not an Import Licence. If you contact The Mınistry of Agriculture.Fisheries and Food. (MAFF) they will send you the appropiate form. They are based in Preston. One other point.your Vet must have the relevant Qualification which allows him to deal with the Import and Export of Animals. My Wife has just got back and put me right on these points.

Re: Taking my cat to Turkey from England?Time?Price?
We bought 3 cats and an Alsation dog with us from the UK last August to Alanya, it cost more for the animals flight than it did for ours, we were allowed one animal per person, this may vary depending on the airline, we used ANIMAL AIRLINES amd flew with Thomas cook
Ow the animals airfare was £1042.00 for all 4, this included the makeing of the special crates needed for them, and for us four it was £250.00, so i started to think our luggage must has more comfort than we do, as this is where the animals were put for the journey,
When we arrived in Antalya airport, the porters were excellent they bought our animals straight out to us first before any cases came through.
