Re: Desparate! Home needed for two lovely dogs
Lucky Cat - did you get someone for Cassie? Saw the offer from MTC and was wondering. Saw Lucky yesterday and she was looking a bit ruffled but fat enough but as I do every winter I will take a bit of grub out and she will get it whenever I come across her. She is another cat that probably would have been put to sleep in the UK but I know you spent a great deal of cash nursing her back to health even though she (typical ungrateful moggy LOL) prefers to rough it than sit on your lap at home.
Seen a few bony dogs about already and season is only just drawing to a close. We already feed a neighbours dog that he underfeeds and a street dog as well as our own 2 cats and one or two visiting toms! Going to see Jack from our old house tomorrow to make sure he is getting enough to eat. Couldn't take him with us as he is used to his little 'site' and there are 2 very aggressive dogs here that didn't welcome him hen he came. Poor Maddy thinks all dogs are sweet like Jack and doesn't fear them and was bitten badly a couple of weeks ago - nearly lost her eye!!
I know there are people around who will look after animals for people but not for long periods (which is understandable when you might want to pop home to the UK yourself). Personally I am having a hard time finding someone to cat-sit for us because it's not paying them that bothers us - it's trusting them to look after them lovingly especially as Tilly is very timid and only trusts us really. no-one is as daft as us LOL

I only offically "" own "" Cassie & 2 cats.
The others are the street animals that we feed during the season
At the end of the season I walk for miles with Cassie - we start off with me & Cass & 3 hours later I return home like the Pied Piper of Yali !!! -- about 15 dogs following me for a " feast " My hubby goes CRAZY -- typical Turk - but he loves them really !
As peaceplant says - 1 of my cats LUCKY prefers to rough it in the village - dispite me taking her home about 20 times - she still likes the village life ! She & others are fed daily. My " lazy stay at home cat- BARBIE " has got a foster home when i go to uk --
CASSIE will be on her way to live for 4 months with JEN in Fethiye next weekend- I am DREADING the car journey - 3 hours + cos she is a terrible traveller - always sick - so hopefully I can get something from " UNCLE ERKAN " ( vet ) to make her sleepy !
I agree with peaceplant -- its NOT the question of paying someone to care for your pets - its the TRUST !

Re: Desparate! Home needed for two lovely dogs
At the risk of sounding cheeky I am still going to post this anyway. I have been speaking to Sally today and another dog has appeared on the scene. It has been with the Belediye for 3 weeks (after Sally called them to help with its injuries). Yesterday, they just dumped it back on her doorstep without saying a word. Its had its ears cut off (which we are not saying they did) and had the most horendous wound around its neck. It looked as though it had been tied up very tightly.
She now has 6 dogs to feed. Some will say she doesnt "have" to feed these dogs. However, like myself, Sally is a huge animal lover who only has the animals interests at heart and cannot see them starve right outside her house. Having said that her purse is screaming now I am still looking after the pup and also our own pup.
If anybody would be willing to donate any amount (no matter how small) for their food we would be most grateful. You dont even have to give money, just a bag of food would be fantastic. For example a huge bag of food from the Countryranch costs 40 YTL and that would last a dog nearly two months.
They are all such loving, well natured dogs who just want a loving home. If any animal lovers could donate some food to make their lives a little easier (and Sally's especially) we would be very grateful. Or indeed if anybody has any unwanted dry food, collars, leads etc. that they do not want.
I understand the huge problem in Turkey across the board unfortunately too, so please dont think that I am saying we are the only ones with this problem.
Thank you very much
Lorraine (and Sally)

Re: Desparate! Home needed for two lovely dogs
Hi, update.........
Still looking for a home for these lovely dogs. They are fed and well but still need a good home. Not somewhere where they will be tied up all day long.
Please please put your thinking caps on and see if you can think of anybody who may like them (not together obviously)
Totoe is a very kind, loving dog, he's quite happy to sit indoors and just be loved. Lately he has been beaten up quite badly by other street dogs because he is smaller.
Sabre is growing by the day, very loving, cheerful and friendly dog. Full of life and has a LOT to give the right owner. He too is well socialised and loves being around people.
Here's hoping

Re: Desparate! Home needed for two lovely dogs
Hi there
Just to add to the list of dogs needing a home. We've just come back from Altinkum and a dog belonging to some friends of ours has just had eight puppies. Two of them are spoken for, but if anyone can home any of the others that would be wonderful. They are all male and good looking healthy pups. At the moment they are about 4 weeks old and still being fed by their Mum. They are at Yurkadul Villas, which is just past the Aqua Park and opposite Deniz's restaurant. I'm hoping they'll get lucky!
