Telephone/internet Connection
Hi - I'm new to the forum and thinking of buying a place in Altinkum in September. When I asked the owner of the property I'm looking at about telephone and internet connections he said you have to be a full time Turkish resident before you're allowed your own telephone and internet connection. Is this true?

Re: Telephone/internet Connection
You cannot get a telephone or internet connection in your own name if you don't have a residency permit. You can, however, have a telephone, etc. in the name of a Turkish person (and trust that they will pay the bills!!)

Or if the Turk trusts you to pay the bill !! best way, put it in the Turks name, and then he gives you the bill to pay.

But you can get a bit of kit on your roof to pick up an internet signal and use voipstunt so that would get round the issue until you get a residents permit :-) Of course, this does depend if the company putting up the equipment can get a signal in your area but as its Altinkum you are looking at it shouldnt be a problem :-)

Re: Telephone/internet Connection
Ello to you 2 lovely people :-) Akmimel can service most of Altinkum, there is a guy there that speaks pretty good English but he is not there everyday. Tel No: 811 2836 (if calling from Turkey). Once you have your pc up and running then just download VoipStunt for free off the internet and buy yourself a usb plug in phone (Akmimel sell these too). Sorted!

Yes, that's what I found and I got phone connected in the name of a Turkish friend. I waited three weeks for the phone line and then another 2 weeks for ADSL connection and that was with my friend chasing them constantly!
Apparently, they don't always post you a bill and then cut you off for not paying so the onus is on you to check periodically with the local TurkTelecom office if you have anything to pay!
