I did go all the way to Aydin and they said "why" I said "customs told me ".

Re: Registering my UK mobile
Is there anywhere in Fethiye I can get a new UK phone unblocked? I've got a mobile registered with Turkcell but its an old Sagem - a bit basic. I've got a new triband phone bought here in the UK. What's the chance do you reckon of getting it registered with Turkcell and maybe transferring the sim to the new phone? Or would I stand a better chance of getting the phone registered if I bought a new sim?

Re: Registering my UK mobile
carolyn. as you have a turkish registered phone ,once you get the uk one unblocked take it in to the local turkcell or avea office and they will register it and then you simply take out your sim from your old phone stick it in the new one and you are done. and yes they do unblock uk phones. cant help you where you are but i have had it done in turgetreis ,about 15 ytl.

Re: Registering my UK mobile
We've just been through this fiasco. After having our (registered in Fethiye - or so we thought) UK mobiles cut off after 3 weeks we were also told we would have to go to a Turkcell Extra shop in Mugla to register both our mobiles but we would not be connected to the system for about 4 months so were advised to buy some cheap Turkish phones in the meantime. Also when we went to Mugla to do this the rather unhelpful girl in the Turkcell Extra shop refused to accept our police documents which were in lieu of our passports which had been sent off for our residency applicatıon.
İ just happened to mention this to someone in a Turkcell shop while we were adding some credit and he said that it was no problem and he would sort it for 75 YTL per phone! Two hours later we were up and running. Sold our Turkish mobiles at a loss and thought the whole experience unbelievable.

It's not tht simple here, been waiting 6/7 weeks for Vodaphone to unblock my wifes,so she can go to Virgin media, obviously delaying tactics, they blame the Samsung register base.

Re: Registering my UK mobile
Oh well. Looks like I take the old registered phone with the Turkcell sim and also the new, still in its box phone, cross my fingers, smile sweetly and .............. see what happens! Anyone got any recommendations as to the best Turkcell shop in Fethiye in terms of English speakers?
