Re: turkcell help needed
hi biggles
i have tried to use *122* and *123*today niether would work and i got the message "call ended" i tried to send a text message and was successful and got a mesage telling me after the text was sent the remaining amount of kontors
i was told originally that *122* to add kontors and *123*to check kontor credit would not work from uk even though today i was told it would work
i am not sure if you have to register for this service being as you have used it. do you remember doing so ?
i have decided now to leave it NEARLY 210 days and see about this when we are back in bodrum and when i need to add them i will call them to add them on from my scratchcard
the number for turkcell kontors add on from uk if anyone does need to do this is
0090 212 444 0535 and press 77 for english
or
0090 252 444 0535 and press 77 for english
ask to add kontors from a recharge card you have to give the serial number which is under the scratch off area
if you use budget com couk to do this call it only costs 1p per minute no hidden catches
biggles wondered if you would try to do it and let me know what happens as i seem to think you may need to register let me know how you get on biggles when you try it
thanks

later in our stay we were told that the kontors would last 3 months and told that they can be added on in the uk if we purchased extra kontor cards for our return back to uk which we did
when returning i decided to try the mobile in the uk and it did not work i was only able to make emergency calls .
i read then on turkcells website that you need to activate roaming by dialing a number from your mobile while in turkey, so i decided to contact turkcell customer services for help, they activated the service immediately and asked if they could help in any other way.
i asked about the 3 months and was told it was correct but you are unable to use the kontor card direct from your mobile. you have to dial turkcell customer services and they install them, also what i thought was good is if you dont have a spare kontor card you can dial another number and have them added by credit card payment ,
but this is where i need help
we were going back in early 08 and are now no longer able to so are not back now till later than 3 months we can top credit as we allready know but how long do you get if you dont top up untill you loose your number .
i have tried to speak to the customer services dept in turkey but unfortunately for me the lady who helped last time has never answered and although the other staff speak english better than i speak turkish they didnt fully undertand the question
i have heard if there are no kontors added and the mobile is left for 6 months then you loose your number and have to re -register.
any one who KNOWS let me know as rumours are quick coming but no good to rely on.
good job i use budgetcom then phoning turkey only costs 1p per minute
any answers
thanks

Hi there,
can you explain how it works out at 1p a min to call Turkey? The way Budgetcom appears to work is that I call an 0844 # then route thru to the Turkish #. With the phone company I use (talktalk) the 0844 number incurs a charge, which could be up to 12p per min. Also O2 recently stopped letting me call 0844 #'s as part of my inclusive minutes and can now charge up to 20p per min for 0844 #'s.
Thanks for the help,
Cheers, TJD

Re: turkcell help needed
cheeky chops .i had a long talk to turkcell on 00902524440535 they told me as i had already registered my phone with my passport in bodrum ,thats why i can top up in the uk with a recharge [scratch card] that i brought back with me . when i gave them my turk num they also told me the date i must top up on . they said if you cant top up because you had not registered your mob [in turkey ] if you have a scratch card and you call them they can top it up for you ,and they will give you the date by which you need to top up . you cant do it in the uk if you have not registered the mob num ,and you can ony register it at a turkcell office in person with your passport . cheers .

Re: turkcell help needed
if you download voipwise ,calls to turkey landlines are free, you must pay 10 euro [about £6 and you get 210 days of free calls to lots of places [inc turkey ] after the 210 have expired then they start using the £6 .
