Turk Telekom

Just thought I would share my story about the good service that I have received from Turk Telekom.
Last Friday I went into Turk Telekom in Bodrum, to apply for a phone line. After filling in the relevant form and supplying relevant photo copies, I was told that they would come and fit my line 'some time next week'. I thought that this meant the normal, maybe a month or two wait, especially after the recent strikes. But no, the day after, Saturday morning, I got a call at 9.40am to say they would be here '20 minutes later'. Low and behold 20 minutes later a knock on the door, and they had already opened the line, just needed my signature!
On Tuesday, I applied for ADSL, and again the day after, this was also open.
How nice to be able to report good service for a change, instead of the usual bad stories we hear :-)

Hi Sandra, Thanks for sharing your good experience with Turk Telekom. We still have to apply for a phone line and ADSL for our house in Yalikavak, so please can you tell me what documentation we need and how to go about it. Many thanks in advance
Anne

Re: Turk Telekom

hello sandra,
We will be applying for a phone line in the spring and would also like to know as much detail as you think we need.I understand that you have to inform them if you wish to make international calls? What sort of contracts do they offer, and how long have you to sign up for? Thanks in anticipation. Keny.

Re: Turk Telekom

Hi Anne and Keny,

When you get to the Turk Telekom office, you pick up a form, its something like 'yeni telefonu ............', my Turkish friend filled it in for me as my Turkish is not that good.
You will need a copy of your passport and copies of pages 2,3,4 and 5 of your residence permit, and thats it (they did also ask for my Tax number, I didnt have mine with me, so it didnt matter!)
You then get a ticket from the machine and wait your turn (like in a bank).
The guy goes over your form, you can tick what services you want, I ticked for international and mobiles as well as the normal local calls etc etc.
You then get a contract to sign, (quite a few pages, but you just have to put your signature on the bottom of every one), and then you are given a green printout with all your details on.
Once you have your telephone connected, you then go back to Turk Telekom, (in Bodrum's case, you go to the office behind the main Telekom office, where you pay your bills) and apply for ADSL. Again you will need the same copies of your passport and residence permit.
I have gone for the basic ADSL package, 29YTL per month, but there are other packages available, sorry dont know what they are.
Hope this has been useful for you.
Sandra

Re: Turk Telekom

Well glad they got someones right we applied for our phone line end of June, each call that was made to them promised next week, next week. We left end of Sept still no phone they did come out and told us that they couldn't find which line was ours out of the 270 villas on our site, they wanted more money to find it by this time i said to my husband " for god sake just pay them", but we were advised not to, so still no phone!!

Thanks Sandra,

I'll put all this info in my famous notebook for the next trip to Yalikavak and hope that we'll be more successful than the other Anne.
