Voice Over Internet Protocol

Does anyone know, or have aquired one of these phones be it landline or Mobile and have any good or bad reports about them. Thanks.

Vyke Mobile IP is the leading mobile-oriented Voice over IP (VoIP) service
offering users up to 95% discount compared to typical mobile operator pricing
structures. One of the first mass market mobile VoIP services, launched in April of 2006, Vyke Mobile IP features mobile oriented sign-up steps, automatic
configuration services and pricing.

The Vyke suite of communication products features advanced services providing users with low cost, mobile operator/fixed line provider independent ways of making voice calls and sending text messaging from the mobile phone, PC and internet. Over 1.74 million active paid usage accounts have been created within the Vyke product suite.

Thanks for any info on Vyke or Skype.

Andy

I use Skype all the time when in Turkey at the Internet Cafe with no problem and great reception. I also use it in the UK to make international calls - all my non UK suppliers and customers have Skype - and again, its great - and free.

As well as using internet cafe facilities I used to take my laptop to town, call into my favourite cafe, order breakfast and log on wirelessly to their netwrok and deal with e mail, make Skype call and so on whilst I was having breakfast. Fantastic.

I've just had a broadband line and wireless netwrok installed in my Turgutreis home so that I can use Skype and access my work e mails and server from there which I hope will mean I spend more time there.

I can speak to colleagues free and not have to worry about £100+ mobile bills when I'm there for a week.

I heartilly recommend Skype but I don't have experience of the wrieless phones. Mine plugs into a USB slot on my laptop. You can buy a good one for about £5.99 on E Bay.

Hope this helps.

Jonathan

Re: Voice Over Internet Protocol

PS: Don't forget that the person you talk to needs Skype for the call to be free but you can call anyone on Skype - you just have to buy credit if its a normal landline or mobile.

Get your hands on one of these Andy, for not much more cost than a wireless handset. THis model is just over £100.

or

http://www.nokia.co.uk/n810
with a GPS receiver. This one is a lot more expensive and out of my league for price at £300ish.

Means you can surf the 'net, make Sype calls, listen to music, both recorded and internet radio, watch a movie, - better than a wireless phone. Just need a wireless network to connect to, like the phone.

In my opinion much better that just a phone!

Combining pocket sized portability with a high-resolution widescreen display, the Nokia N800 Internet Tablet makes it quick and easy to get online - desktop internet experience in pocketable format.

Looks quite impressive though TJD.

£199 wow - I got mine for £115 new. That's way too expensive for an N800.
