i just called the number and it says press 77 for english then put in your 10 digit turkcell number .i did and got straight through to a english speaking operator .she said if you are having difficulty just selsct option 1 [which says if you are not the subscriber press opt 1 ] then you will speak to a operator . what was you trying to do ,as i said you have to speak to cust svs to activate roaming ,you cant do it yourself . you can only top up yourself in uk ,or activate v/mail if in turkey.

if you are in turkey you dial 4440535 opt 77 from your mobile .its a free call to cust svs.svs. the other number i gave is to get them from the uk 00902124440532 opt 77 i got through staright away from the uk where i am now .

are you sure what you did to the phone barred making a call or is it because you did not top up in a quick enough time frame
after 90 days of registering or last topping up that day included you are barred from making calls

after 180 days incoming barred aswell

after 210 days you loose the number and have to re register with a new sim
try calling the phone to see if it rings or is it not set up for roaming

turkcell customer services are realy helpful speak good english and understand well if you are barred from outgoing and you wish to make a call you will need to contact them. you can pay online if registered but you will need to be activated for roaming to get the pin (password) sent to the phone
you can also pay by credit card but it has to be turkish and not english

Thanks but I have resolved the problem; the no that Biggles gave actually barred incoming calls to my Samsung. I have no idea why but after a lot of swearing etc I managed to clear the phone for use- I wont be bothering with voicmemail! People can text me....

glad you got it sorted ,but its weird as i activated v/mail for 2 people while i was in tukrkey ,the only thing was i was advised by cust svs to only do this while in turkey [not sure if you tried it while in the uk ] also i think if you got a recorded msg instead of a operator then maybe they work 9 to 5 and not sat or sun. as i think i did it both times on a weekday in the morning while in turkey .anyway at least you got sorted .

Hi our friend Mustafa helped us a few years ago, I had an old Nokia that was not locked, he got me a new battery and a turkish sim card and at such a small cost and it was really cheap to use. when i needed a top up i went into the store and the man very kindly helped me by doing it for me. If you buy regular you will find people will be helpful in return for your custom, I find most people are helpful if you are polite

they are very helpful ,but it is easy now as a new turk mobile with a turk sim is only about £30 and the menu is in english so you can top up yourself just as you do in the uk .

You can now register with new sim card but retain your old number but this must be done in a Turkcel shop.

how long has this been going then i would love to know

i was told in sept it was not possible in turkcell shop and there was not a misunderstanding with language the girl spoke briliant english

that will be a help to a lot of people who forgot to re charge
