landline connection
can anyone tell me how you go about getting a landline connection in yesilkent and what the cost involved is please?

just go to your local post office...fill in the forms..if you cant speak turkish take someone with you who does...you will need your normal identification papers. it wont cost you anything.

Shirley, why wouldnt it cost? I recall a transfer of connection from an existing line is around 50 lira whilst a complete new installation to a house where there is no existing line can cost anything depending on the distance from the PTT junction box to the house.
I have heard of other instances where some PTT offices are also demanding deposits too.

thought it would cost something and i never explained clearly that there is no existing line .is it correct there has to be a certain number of people request phone line before one would be put in the area if the current ptt line is quite far away?

Sometimes that is the case however, there is nothing to stop you paying to have the line laid to your requirements.

HI THERE
Just wondered if you have to have a resident permit to have a land line installed, since I have been told this, also how much does it cost monthly/yearly for the line - this is in Altinkum by the way.

Theres no requirement for a residency permit. A passport will suffice however, in the case of a passport, you may be asked to pay a deposit to ensure you pay the bill before leaving for your home country.
