wireless problems

Hiya
I have got my wireless router on the 1st floor but whenever i use the laptop downstairs the signal is very low.
Does anyone have any suggestions how i can improve this apart from bringing the router back downstairs.

Re: wireless problems

Alfa Networks 1000mw WiFi adapter,18 on ebay.usb.These are just about the most powerfull adapters on the market.Make sure it is the new 1000mw and not the old 500mw,both look the same. Download Vistumbler you will see the difference in how many more channels you pick up and there strengths.

Re: wireless problems

Thanks guys for your advice.
Looked around but couldn't get what you said so brought a 25 metre internet cable and plugged it into the modem and out the window and down to the table.
