From Turkey to UK (Free is you use Computer/ADSL with www.voipstunt.com)

If you have access to the internet even with Dial-up this is still the cheapest way to call the UK, They have just introduced the call back feature which allows you to specify a landline to call from this will give you calls to uk for 2p/minute and you can use your turkish land line!!!


Cheapest I have found is through using a ROCKTEL calling card (selling locations are on their websitewww.rocktel.com.tr ) in Didim there is one to the left of the massive park/cay cafe area off the main road through didim (not the market side) behind sehir locantasi

Landline rates are 0.137 ytl/minute (6p)
Mobile rates are 0.482 ytl/minute (22p)

If you are Big Callers to the UK then it would be worth you looking at http://www.extraphone.com/web/web_e...callingcard.htm as the rates are reduced by almost half, however you need to call the company and sign up etc so not as easy as the ROCKTEL Card

Have just updated the numbers, put a direct link to find the latest cheap rate as GarryP posted.

Also have pointed out the Voipstunt callback service which gives you 2p/minute calls from your turkish land line. you just have to install the application first (really easy) this creates a user name and password then you can just log into the www.voipstunt.com website onto your account and then specify what number you wish to call (i.e. friend/family in the UK) and what number you wish to be called back on (i.e. your Turkish Land line) the charge for this is currently 4p connection and 1.6p/minute for the call.

Good info here. As I am with Sky Talk , they charge normal rates for numbers begining with 08 or 09. So I will swop back to Bt. My mum has just moved abroad to Cyprus and I want to call her often.

Just found out that if I dial 1280 before dialing these cheap call numbers, 1280 diverts my call back through to bt. So it looks like I can stay with Sky talk and just use 1280 when calling Cyprus. So my calls go through Bt who will charge the fixed 1p in minute.

I will try these people first and see how it goes.

Anyone used it?

I have used Comfi.com, previously Masterbell.com for a few years now from the US back home, pretty good service and it's cheap. No searching around for a shop to put money on a card, you can set up auto-refill option so as when balance get low it auto refills to a set amount and you can still call home. Looks like 2-3p per minute to phone home.

You can use a voip adapter over a broadband connector and call for free and the line quality is better than some other types of services. If you buy the voip box in Turkey you pay aboutYTL 75 but in the UK it will cost you about £35 for box and subscription.
