Turkish Mobile Disconnected??

Hi everyone,

I bought Turkish mobile last year and had it registered in Turkcell shop. I think it has now been disconnected because I had not topped up phone for a few months. I phoned helpline and was told my number was no longer assigned. I went to shop and they wanted me to take 9 sims( worth 5 lira each) with different numbers. My usage is minimal. Can anyone advise how to procedd or do I have to pay 45 lira???

If its less than 6 months since you topped it up it should still work once you put some credit on it.if its beyond 6 months not sure

After 90 days without prepaying, your line will be closed. You need to get a new number.

not true

Its a hell of a lot longer than 90 days before its totally cut off.

The rules were 3 months and outgoing cut, a further 3 months then before phone cut altogether. I believe this total of 6 months has now been extended to at least 7

I believe that credit must be added within six months of the expiry of the previous credits for the service to continue.
Sorry my comment was for Avia,I didn't realise this was about Turkcell.

are you sure they wanted you to buy 9 sims or were they asking you to choose a number from 9 sims.

Turkcell changed the rules a year or so ago. Your line remains open for 6 months without further top ups. For the following three months it remains open only for incoming calls and at the end of that period (9 months from initial top up) it is disconnected and you lose the right to that number.

When i spoke to t/cell cust svs they told me its 210 days to cut off from last top up .

Whilst not exactly doubting what you say - is this right? Whilst all the nonsense was going on with our court case, I topped up my mobile every 90 days. Well, to be truthful, someone else in Turkey did it for me. However, as I will not now be returning to Turkey for the foreseeable future, I am in the process of using up my credit. I am now about a week past the 90 days, and was wondering why it was still working. I have about TL60 -70 to go yet.

If this is right, I will not be losing any money, I can use it all up in the next 90 days.

I just called Turkcell cust svs & the guy told me its 9 months from last top up before you lose the number . He also said you only have to put on 7 lire to keep it active for another 9 months .
