Registering mobile phone

If I register my mobile phone in Turkey for example in Turkcell's shop. After that can I put Avea sim card to my phone? Is it working? Or Vodafone? I mean, can I use Turkcell, Avea or Vodafone sim cards?
Sorry my English...I hope you undestand what I mean.
Somebody just said to me only 1 sim is working after registering. If I take Turkcell sim so only that is working in my phone. Is that true?

Ok...if I would like to change from Avea to Turkcell, do I have to register it again?

That used to be the case but if you have a Residence Permit you can use more than one sim. If you dont have a RP you are restricted to the sim that is registered at the time of registering the mobile.

The cost has also gone up to 115TL payable at your local Maliye office and Turkcell also take 20TL for their part.

When I registered mine 18 months ago you were restricted to one sim even if you had a RP.
However yesterday when we registered my wife's new mobile the new rules were explained to us. Also, unlike in the past, you can also keep your existing Turkcell number. In the past you could only do this if that sim had been registered on the Turkcell system against your passport.

Anyone wanting to change their network after registering with Turkcell can now take out the Turkcell sim and use whichever Turkish sim they prefer provided they have a RP.

Full marks to Turkcell. Everything they told us was right! My wifes phone accepts any Turkish sim whereas mine - done under the old "rules" is restricted to the sim that it was registered with.

Are you sure that's correct? I was under the impression once a mobile is registered as Turkish any sim is good to go. How else would people manage when they change their service provider? It would be chaos.

Hopefully someone will clarify the situation.

Edit: Looks like Villabaris was doing so at the same time.

Re: Registering mobile phone

In May 2012, we registered an unlocked UK mobile with Turkcell, and fitted a Turkish sim.

When we returned home to Scotland, I removed the Turkcell sim and replaced with my original O2 sim.

When we returned back to Turkey in August I just repleced the Turkcell sim back into my unlocked UK mobile

Incidently we missed, by two weeks having to pay the additional tax on UK mobiles

Re: Registering mobile phone

The person who registers it must be the person who entered Turkey no longer than 30 days before the registration and has the date stamp on their passport.
Turkish people still have to pay the 115TL and must also have entered the country in the maximum 30 day period.
The rules are the same no matter what nationality.

Send him to Greece or Bulgaria for the day, cost of travel being offset by cheap alcohol on the way back ;-) I jest, but I will be doing this some time as I've just brought a phone back from the UK, but I think I may not have had my previous one registered long enough to register a second. Is the limit one phone in two years?

Re: Registering mobile phone

I could be wrong (I often am), but I thought the registration of phones was to stop the theft of mobiles, if this is the case it will be the IMEI of the mobile that is registered, which is unique to the mobile, and nothing to do with the SIM. If this is the case changing SIMs will not affect the registration.
