Re: turkcell top up.

You should be able to top it up with any Turkish bank account.

I don't think topping up on it's own is of much use. You may have to actually use it within a 6-month period.

Re: turkcell top up.

If you top it up and it lasts a month and you are not in Turkey for say 6 months ,then it must be cheaper to just buy a new sim every time you go ? . Or am I wrong ?

When I last tried to find out about topping up and I spoke to Turkcell ,they told me I could only do it if I had a Turkish cred card or had a d/d set up from a Turkish bank .[This is if I wanted to do it from outside Turkey that is .]

Re: turkcell top up.

You have to have a turkish bank account or have a friend who has one.

It's not so much as the topping up that's the issue, it's losing the number if you get a new card.
You may have many people, not just friends, who know your number.

I sometimes call a turkish contractor whose english is not very good.
He can see it's me calling, by my number.
If you call someone and there's no reply, they can see that you have called.
Also, if someone calls you and they're in your phonebook then you can decide whether to take the call or not.
For example, I get frequent calls from Turk Telecom which I don't bother to answer.
Very useful in turkey if you get a lot of cold calls, especially if they're in turkish.
That's more important to me that the cost of the card.

Yes this makes a lot of sense if the num is important to you . Personnaly its not to me ,so I always weigh up the aggro of topping up from the UK with the ease of just letting the num run out and buying another sim . If they ever got round to making the sim last for say 8 months then I would always be able to keep same number .I believe its 270 days till you lose it from last top up [mobile that is ] . Not sure what the deadline is on dongles and wi fi vinns .?

Re: turkcell top up.

Guess they'd be the same if they have a sim card. It's the sim card which is the issue and not the device.

Re: turkcell top up.

I have a MultiVinn device and haven't had any problems with the sim card, I'm pretty sure when I bought it and the SIM card for it in Bodrum Turkcell, they told me it was 9 months of no-use before it was switched off, just like the phone SIM.
