Turkish pay as you go sim card?

What's the current options for Pay As You Go Sim cards in Turkey?

Registering a foreign mobile is a pain but if you buy a cheap 2nd hand Turkish mobile, you only need a PAY As You Go sim, but what's the best network/company in Turkey?

Turkcell may or may not be the best company but they do have the best coverage nationwide.

Re: Turkish pay as you go sim card?

I don't know about a package, but usually a new sim will come with 20tl credit on it, you can add more when you buy it or top up anywhere as you use it.

A word of caution though if no activity on the network sim in 4+ months (varies from network to network it gets deactivated and you may lose the credit and have to register or get a new sim (number).

For example I used to have a Turkcell sim but as I visit Turkey infrequently after 6 months+ it got wiped out. So next time I tried an Avea sim and it seems to be ok after 8 months, it did get deactivated but it allowed me to add credit on it again when I visited Turkey and it got reactivated and the previous credit remained, so I could keep the same number.

Re: Turkish pay as you go sim card?

It cost me 30 lira to load and reactivate my Turkcell sim card , I have called the U.K. Three or four times , just to speak to my great grandson who was very distressed at us going away. I have also used it for local calls. The beauty is you can top up as and when you need it. I use a cheap Nokia phone I bought at Kipa three years ago .
