I,m sure this has been covered extensivly before ,but after our last visit to turkey and taking out a second mortgage to cover our mobile phone bill, I,m looking to purchase a sim card in the uk that I can put pre pay credit on and take out to turkey this summer plugged in to my uk unlocked handset any suggestions that would save me some money appreciated

Hi G & T, If your phone is unlocked why not just buy a Turkish simcard,
easy enough to purchase over there, & much cheaper to phone home from your mobile. Happy phoning !

Buy a turkcell sim card you can top it up in UK via their web site 2 units to text in Turkiye to other Turkcell 3 units to text to UK 200 units £12 + 50 free cant get much cheaper than that.

What about having to register the phone though? I've heard of many people buying turkish sim cards and then having their phones locked due to this new law.

I bought my sim card June last year use it in a cheap phone from Argos and last used it in November when I returned late April topped it up and hey presto, I did not register it, but will only cost 5ytl to register phones.
