Obtainable from all the larger Turkcell shops and yes you have to show your passport.
According to the signal where you are, it operates speedily and can accommodate up to 10 users.
Top ups cost 39TL for 4GB this lasts for a month or 10GB for 79TL which lasts up to 3 months (These 2014 prices)

Pete
Prices are correct, topped up 2 weeks ago and still paid 79TL for 10GB.

Re: Using Turkcell Vinn Wifi

The vinn itself is 149tl in a turkcell shop, 125tl ordered online, then there is 41tl for the sim card and 79tl for 10gb over 3 months (data package) there is also 39tl over 1 month. This was 3 weeks ago in the Turkcell shop in Bodrum, which are certainly not the most helpful of shops!

It seems to go pretty quickly though, my kids were only using it in the evenings and managed to get through the 10gb in 5 days! Normal you-tube, games etc and a skype conversation, but easy enough to top up at any shop that sells phone credits, just ask for internet date package.

Yes you need your passport so that they can register the purchase in your name.

Always found the one by the Marina quite friendly, this time used the one in the Oasis which was fine.

Re: Using Turkcell Vinn Wifi

We looked at the Turkcell Vinn in the Turkcell shop in Milas. Could not fault the the service and friendliness/knowledge of staff.

As Milas did not have the Sim Card in stock, we went and purchased in the Turkcell shop at Midtown Bodrum.

Ver pleasant experience. The young gentleman, showed how it worked, set-up Vinn, and even tested that the Vinn and Simm worked before we left.

Re: Using Turkcell Vinn Wifi

We went to the one just off the main road (going down towards the market) in Bodrum, unpleasant staff, unhelpful and downright rude when questioned why they advertise the price at 125tl on their website but charge 149tl! They didn't even know how to check the balance on vinn other than putting it into mobile phone and texting to check.

Still we have it now, just need to top it p when we get back.

Is it Skype that uses up the gb's? The boys were watching you tube but not major amounts and logging in to clash of the clans etc but only for around 5 mins at a time. Just seems a lot to use in such a short space of time?

Skype audio doesn't use much at all but switch on the video and it eats data(in terms of using a Vinn) u-tube, and streaming TV also gobbles up the GB's. Plus if you have facebook set the auto play of videos to off. Lastly make sure if you're using Apple kit and they are set to sync with each other or I-cloud that its disabled as it uses z lot of data which you don't notice on unlimited packages at home but of a Vinn the allowance disappears quickly.
