ADSL Speed Fethiye
I was under the impression that ADSL speeds in Fethiye were increasing today. I understood this was to be a 'no-cost' increase.
I am dawdling along at a mere 256 Kbps.
Is there an increased speed being introduced? Is it free? When/How do I get it?

Re: ADSL Speed Fethiye
Hi Ian
I hadn't heard anything about this but i have just checked and i am up to 1mbps from my usual 512kbps.......obviously i hadn't requested it (not knowing about it!). Maybe it's just teething troubles where you are? Hope it picks up!

There was a rumour going round the village that we

Re: ADSL Speed Fethiye
OOOhhhhh 512 camel power in Esenkoy always and you say when i get back I would have been automatically speeded up KKOB? That is brilliant news espeically as the sprogs have just been upgraded to 1 whole GBPS free of charge by BT Actually Immac I was on 512 up in Ovacik over a year ago. Are you sure you are not signed up for the 256kbps service? from what I can remember of my green form (which is at home) there was a choice of three different services offered, one of which I am sure was 256kbp. It isn't much good asking me cos I leave all that kind of stuff up to the experts......lol I just phone a friend and wail or state my requests - nicely Could it be the area you are in that is having problems? Have to admit I am quite happy with my 512 camel power in the sticks. I quite like the break between loading pages where I can nip to my mutfak and make a cup of tea a bit like the old adverts on the television in the UK.

Re: ADSL Speed Fethiye
Yes I am signed up to 256Kbps (for over a year), but I understood that these upgrades were happening across the board free of charge.
I'm not sure I need the extra speed enough that I want to pay extra, but if there is something free I will take it. People on 512 have been upgraded to 1Kbps so at the least I would expect to go up to 512.
Incidentally, there is a ttnet (Turk Telecom) site for you to test your download and upload speeds. It is in Turkish but it is simple to use. It gives a result which shows your speed against their standard. It is useful if you are ever disputing a problem with ttnet to show them a print out of the result.
http://speedtest.ttnet.net.tr/
Select your speed and press go, wait a few moments and it will give you the answer.

Re: ADSL Speed Fethiye
29.99!!! a month for 512Kbps. I am paying 49.00ytl a month for 256Kbps. Does this give you limited on-line time or 24/7 like mine?
I have been looking for a list of tariffs, but can't find one - anyone know a site where ttnet show their costs for ADSL?

Re: ADSL Speed Fethiye
Extract from an article in New Anatolian, which shows discrepancy with 24/7 connection prices over 'limited' prices
TECHNOANALYSIS - Speed vs. data limit dilemma
Burak Oyas
Although Turkey has taken many steps toward expanding the use of Internet technologies throughout the country, Internet access is still expensive and slow compared to other European countries plus the United States and Japan.
TTNET, the leading ADSL connection service provider in Turkey, announced changes in ADSL connection tariffs last week. Currently, TTNET is practicing two types of connection tariffs: limited and unlimited connections.
In the limited connection tariff they offer much higher speeds at a relatively low cost, but the total monthly data traffic is limited. When this limit is exceeded, TTNET charges extra.
In the new tariff, TTNET reduced the prices for the unlimited connections by 18 percent and doubled the connection speeds for download limited connections without changing the download limits. However, these arrangements did little to reflect the expectations of consumers since the current download limits are very low. For example, with the new regulation, low-end connection speed for the limited tariff is set to 1 Mb, with three different quota levels: 3 GB, 6 GB and 9 GB.
However, it is possible to download more than 300 GB of data with an unlimited 1 Mb connection. On the other hand, unlimited connection prices are so high that it makes us think that TTNET doesn't relish offering this service. Users are set in the middle of speed vs. unlimited connection dilemma.
Services provided by the Internet are increasing every day. So the requirements for bandwidth and data amounts are also increasing. TTNET should reconsider its current prices and data limits or they will not be able to catch up with world standards.

Re: ADSL Speed Fethiye
It is a big rip off for the people who are using 256 , as telecom will make minimum speed 512 and will charge 512 tariff to the people who are happy to use 256 . It is not only in Fethiye , in all country . It was announced that minimum 512 speed would start on 1st of august but I couldnt see any change.
