ADSL from 256 to 1024 for free
Turkish Telekom offer for those who have 256 ADSL connection. If you have a 256 ADSL connection without a cota (which means you pay 49 ytl/month) and you signed up before august 2006, you can upgrade to 1024 for free.
You can use the 1024 ADSL connection (without a cota and extra money) until the end of February 2007. In FebruaRY 2007 you can go back to your 256 connection or keep 1024 with a cota of 6gb.
All you have to do is to call 4440375 (I don't know if they can give service in English) to upgrade.
In February they say you have to apply with a petition to Telekom to go back to your 256 ADSL connection.

Serdar, this is good news, perhaps. Can you tell me what "cota" means, and is that 6 GB a day or month?
Where did you see this?

it is 6gb per month. I think Serdar meant by quota.

Re: ADSL from 256 to 1024 for free
ok, I just rung them up and upgraded it for free. Very easy and straight forward. All they wanted was my DOB, fathers name and customer number.
Dont know about the english speaking operator as I didnt ask for one.

Re: ADSL from 256 to 1024 for free
Having spent a few minutes on their web site, I cab see (coupled with the info above) that this is an invitation to switch to their standard 'limited' service with no limits until next year and then limits being applied. As I download music, I'm not sure 6GB month is enough, but how can you know? Is there a site to check your past useage? If you go over it is charged at 0.01YTL per MB.

Re: ADSL from 256 to 1024 for free
I have a programe bundled with my modem that tells me how much traffic I use. Last month was 15 gig so the limited package is useless for me.
I am just going to use it till end of febuary then go back to 256 unless my hard drive fills up with all the extra stuff I will download now.

Re: ADSL from 256 to 1024 for free
I can see what they are trying to do, but it may not be tempting. Given your example Starman, it will cost you an extra 10.24YTL per GB each month over the 6GB allowance = extra 72YTL per month on top of the standatd rental of 49YTL.
I am also interested in what Serdar says "you have to apply with a petition to Telekom" because I can see that they might refuse your 'application' and you are stuck.

Re: ADSL from 256 to 1024 for free
thats something I dont need to worry about. getting back to the 256 package wont be a problem for me but will find out how to write the petition for you once the time comes.

Not sure if this will help you, you can't check past useage, but if you download netmeter you can start recording your useage.

Re: ADSL from 256 to 1024 for free
So you will pay over and above the usual 49YTL if you exceed the 6GB limit? It's a good offer, I might try it. Can you upgrade on-line?
