The first fare-paying passengers are due to take off today from the UK's newest airport.
A Thomsonfly Boeing 737 will leave Robin Hood Airport near Doncaster bound for Palma in Majorca.
This is the first of many European destinations that will be served by flights from the former RAF base with transatlantic trips to follow in 2006.
The South Yorkshire airport - officially called Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield - has been developed by Peel Holdings which already operates Liverpool John Lennon, Durham Tees Valley and Sheffield City airports.
Charter flights
Within nine years, Robin Hood is expected to be handling more than two million passengers a year as well as large quantities of freight.
In addition to Thomsonfly, Ryanair and a number of charter airlines will use Robin Hood this summer.
Alex Hunter, from Thomsonfly, said: "This is a great day for us and the people of Yorkshire.
"Bookings show there is a high demand in the area for a low-fares flight service to European cities and holiday resorts.
