Security Question - Water
Can anyone tell me the current policy about liquids at Turkish airports, specifically Bodrum but I assume all will have the same rules. It has been quite a while since I have flown, living here in Akbuk there is little reason to travel, in fact it’s the wife that’s travelling not me.
Just want to know if she can take a bottle of water or pop through security and also cigarette lighter. I know UK airports banned these.

Re: Securty Question - Water
Hi Rob, when we flew back from Bodrum in June there were no liquid restrictions, but they are still in place at UK airports. I am not so sure about the lighter though.

Re: Securty Question - Water
Hi rob
At Bodrum airport you go thro 2 security checks, on previous occasions I have taken a couple of cans of Efes & drunk them in the departure lounge no problem, because it is so damn expensive in there.
On this occasion last monday I took 4 cans of lager 2 chicken sandwiches 2 drumsticks & 2 packet's of crisps because the last time we had a two hour delay. No delay this time!!! which meant I had to drink & eat faster He He.
What on earth they are looking for at the security checks beats me.
Next time I fly out of Bodrum airport I will take a few cases of Efes & make a fortune.
Jim

Re: Securty Question - Water
My doughter and grand doughter went back home last week (after 9 weeks) they went via bodrum they had water, pop and all manner of makeup they had no probs,
Last week we went to Istanbul for a few day also no probs.only thing now is no smoking, I dont smoke but it is hard to get back out of Istanbul airport once you have checked in not like bodrum where you just walk in and out!

Re: Securty Question - Water
Was v. amused last year going through security at Bodrum airport - lady in front was challenged over her metal forks in her hand-luggage - but guard happy to let her through once he knew they were for her light lunch before departure. Obviously have their priorities bang on in Bodrum airport!

Re: Securty Question - Water
Seems you can take liquid etc thro Bodrum airport with no problems.!!!
Unlike Birmingham where on monday they confiscated,my deodarant,a brand new hair gel,two squeezy bottles of branston pickle ,and a brand new very expensive mascara.
All I can say is there must be a very sweet smelling hair gelled mascared security quard pouring branston pickle all over his pork pies.
B d I really was looking forward to my pickle.!!!!!!!!

Re: Securty Question - Water
I had 2 small bottles of water in my hand luggage on Sunday which I drank on the plane after departing Bodrum.

Re: Security Question - Water
The only reason they would confiscate your water at Bodrum would be so that they can get a back-hander from the exorbitant prices they would charge you to replace it in the snack bar!
