Feel Like A Star??!!!!!!!!

I am so pleased that Kevin Kostner feels like a star when he travels by Turkish Airlines, we have travelled back to the UK today with them and felt far from being stars, we checked in at Bodrum/Milas domestic airport and was asked would we like window or aisle seats and requested window seats, the flight from Bodrum to Istanbul was Ok with the seats but over 1 hour late taking off, therefore leaving us very little time to do anything more than a quick visit to Dutyfree and Passport Conrol then the last call for the flight to Heathrow was called and we boarded to find that the seats we had been allocated were in the centre row on the huge Boeing 777, had to come to terms with that, but once boarded we sat on the plane for 1 hour 30 minutes before takeoff, we were then over 2 hours later than we should have been and at Heathrow after wwe had landed we again had to just sit out on the tarmac waiting to be allowed to get off for another 25 minutes. All this meant that of course we had well missed our Coach connection back to Gloucestershire, we had to change the tickets and that cost another 7 to do. Home now, but not happy at all with Turkish Airlines and will be writing to them.

I'm always singing the praises of Turkish Airlines but I'm sorry to say that I was disappointed with them on our last trip. Our experience wasn't nearly as bad as yours - no delays or missed connections - but the plane from Dublin was old and the seats uncomfortable. On our return trip, we thought we had lots of time in the Istanbul Duty free. The monitor was showing "Wait in Lounge" when suddenly it changed to "Last Call"......mad dash to the departure lounge only to be caught in long queues at security scanners.

We always opted for THY over the charters but I'm not sure anymore that it's worth all the hassle at Istanbul on top of the extra time spent travelling.

Re: Feel Like A Star??!!!!!!!!

I wonder if he noticed or experienced the extortionate prices of food and refreshments at Bodrum or were ordinary passengers subsidising his royal hospitality.

Absolute daylight robbery. Euros 6.5 for a small water, Euros13 for a can of Coke, Euros10 for a carton of chips. The stunned expression on customers faces said it all.
Surely the provision of water at a reasonable price is a basic human right......particularly in large public places such as airports, where large groups are likely to be contained for long periods.

Perhaps greed has replaced human consideration.

Sorry! Grump over.

Re: Feel Like A Star??!!!!!!!!

If people pay such prices they will simply fuel the whole absurd extortion..
It's quite simple - just DON'T buy things there!

Whilst having every sympathy with your plight - and being a great fan of Turkish Airlines myself - the only thing that Turkish Airlines can be blamed for apparently is yopur seat allocation. Take off slots, time on runways, and time waiting for taxiing to an airbridge at Heathrow are all out of the airlines hands and are surely matters for air traffic control and the airports not THY. I know that doesnt ease your frustration but maybe its a bit harsh to blame THY for everything.

Last time I used Turkish airlines I had a great experience, one that means i would use them again, but on the subject of the refreshment prices at Bodrum I would agree except Turkish airlines fly out of the other domestic terminal where in January I was able to buy a coffee "in a proper mug" for about 3 TL. I can only guess that the locals wouldnt pay tourist prices !

Re: Feel Like A Star??!!!!!!!!

I can only really use THY have the occasional problem but none that can be attributed to them. I quite like THY actually.
With regard to Bodrum Milas airport prices, it is not THY that set the prices it is the airport operator that franchises out the services.
Yes they are expensive, but we always take a couple of bottles of water/pepsi with us, enough to get us through until the plane, saves us a few quid.
