Question How much layover time needed between flights?

I need to know what anybody thinks is a good amount of time for a person on an incoming International flight to give oneself between Istanbul and on to Bodrum? I am looking at booking a flight and the itinerarys are showing only an 1 hour and 45 minute layover bewteen getting off at Istanbul and then leaving for Bodrum. Is that enough time to get visa, get luggage, go thru security and check luggage again? How much time should one set aside?

Karen,

International flights into Istanbul with an internal allow you to have the baggage marked for internal transfer therefore you should not be collecting any luggage on arrival at Istanbul but at your final destination point.

I believe this is normally "flagged" as such from the departure airport.

Merv!

Last time on the way to Dalaman we went via Istanbul. We thought about getting the visa while waiting at there but decided to wait till we got to Dalaman.

If time does not allow you to get one in Istanbul could you still buy it in Bodrum?

1 hr 45mins is the standard connection time for any international flight. I wouldnt recommend anything less than that!

I have used that connection couple of times and not had any problems, there is not much to do but to wait and browse the few shops at the airport, I think there are three flights a day from Istanbul to Bodrum so even if you are delayed arriving you should still be able to get the next one.

Re: How much layover time needed between flights?

My Aunt flew BA from Uk to Istanbul and then on to Izmir with Turkish Airlines.
She had to get her visa and collect her bags in Istanbul then go from the overseas to the domestic terminal.
As her flight was late leaving the Uk she missed her connecting flight in Istanbul.
Luckily there was another one an hour later.

I assume she had all this hassle because there were two different airlines involved.
