Re: turkish airlines
Dellol: Thanks a million for explaining about the Miles & Smiles. Just realised that I have wasted my airmiles. Could at least have used them to upgrade to business class.
The website often mentions the Miles & Smiles card. If I ever received such a card I'm afraid I lost it. Do you know how I can get a replacement card?

Re: turkish airlines
Just wrote a long letter of complaint to Turkish Airlines.
Travelled Lon - Istanbul a couple of weeks ago and due to snow everything was delayed and we missed our connecting flight to Bodrum. I understood that due to snow this couldnt be helped etc etc. However, the treatment we received at Istanbul was absolutely shocking! In the end after 4 hours waiting to be given a hotel for the night I jumped in a cab and told the driver to take me to a hotel.
If I can avoid flying with them again in the future, I will. Seems to me that if everything is going to plan, everything is great but a little glitch or a delay and it completely falls apart. Bad customer service all round just when you really need it. I cant begin to tell you how downright rude the staff were.
Dont want to put a downer on anyones trip, just a warning.
Oh and dont believe them in London when a rep tells you TA fly loads of domestic flights to Bodrum every day so not to worry if you miss your connecting flight - THEY ARE LYING.
Do I still sound cross? lol!

Re: turkish airlines
Hi tjd, yeah, it seems I get a smaller allowance as I got a free flight. Not to worry, I certainly don't mind, I think I'm lucky, afterall so many charters are charging for luggage so considering THY are getting no money for my flight, I'm lucky to be getting any luggage allowance. 20kg is not bad for a freebie...
Guinevere, I don't have a UK number, but the Irish numbers are Winnie at Dublin Airport (from UK) 00353 1 8447920 /1 or Head Office, Alvara on 00353 1 8783772 /3053
Maria, if you can't see anything when you look back over your emails, as they email you your number until your card arrives in the post, give one of the numbers above a ring and they will tell you if you have an account. If you don't set one up, you have nothing to lose, your miles are credited after your return flight... Good Luck all....
If it was good for you, please tip my scales........

Re: turkish airlines
Thanks Dellol. I have had an account for years and get all the emails. Probably got the card too but lost it. The newsletters always mention showing your card at check-in for upgrades and free flights and I'm worried that if I book the flight online using my account no. I could run into problems at the airport because I don't have the actual card to show them.

You're right Maria, make sure you have your actual card with you, as you may be asked to show it. Just ring up and get one posted out asap. Remember your card only covers you.
For a while I booked mine and my husband's flights and just gave my card number thinking I would get miles for us both....wrong.....one card, one person, one set of miles, so make sure everyone travelling has a miles card. You can just sign up whilst your booking your flights, it is all immediate, (But Maria, you check first, incase you already have an account and you can add your miles on a couple of years later....so check first...)
If you are booking a flight, using your miles, you do have to do that in person or over the phone... Dublin Airport does not have a credit card facility, so in person or they can hold them for a while over the phone. Head Offic, does have the credit card facility.....Go on Maria, give them a ring, you may get a very pleasant surprise. If you have an old miles account I will tell you how to add all your miles on......
If it was good for you, please tip my scales........

Re: turkish airlines
Thanks again Dellol. You're a star. If I could, I'd do a dance on those scales.

Re: turkish airlines
I sure will Dellol. I'm kicking myself over the free flights I missed in the past. Don't think I'll qualify for the free flights this year but I fancy going business class.
