Flights to Turkey

I am off again in April for 16 days (better than 2 weeks) and have booked through Turkish Airlines. We are also thinking of going in August for 3 weeks instead of the normal 2 weeks and it is cheaper to go with Turkish Airlines than the charter companies (3 weeks). If anyone has travelled with Turkish Airlines they will know it is sooo much better than a charter flight and although you have got to change at Istanbul I think it is a much more comfortable journey. Worth thinking about

I have had their card for a few years and usually after 4 flights you get one free upgrade. I have always preferred schedule flights compared to charter which are just glorified flying cattle trucks.
Speaking from my experience once flying JMC, from which I kept getting cramps due to the stingy leg room and unable to lower the tray for my legs crushed half way up the seat in front of me.

Hiya Gail, Is it only Heathrow that Turkish Airlines fly from or do they service Gatwick as well? How easy are they to book with and what did they charge for the April flights? Is it to Bodrum or Izmir? Lot of questions but it would be good to know plus contact details. Thanks

Duke, Turkish Airline fly from Heathrow and Manchester, the website is here http://www.thy.com/en/index.php you can check the schedule here.

They fly to Izmir and Bodrum via Istanbul, but Izmir has better connections (about 1.5hr) then Bodrum flights.

I booked direct with them for end of this month flight the total was £261 inc tax etc. this was cheaper then other online agents.

Another bonus is for about £25 extra you can stopover in Istanbul for a few days.

Thanks Mushtaq for the info and advice much appreciated also the offer Steve, you'd swear I had never left the UK in my life. I spent 26 years in the Army Navy & RAF worked in most countries from Oz to California but somehow that change at Istanbul throws me a tad! Maybe its getting old does it or not having the wife with me to blame & shout at??? I I'll give it a go on my next visit for sure as I have paid Excel now and they are not too bad Karen's two week visit is only £188 which I think is good value

Hiya Duke

We fly from Heathrow, they don't go from Gatwick but they do go from Manchester. We have paid the same as Mushtaq for our April flight. For the August flight for 21 days it will be £552.40 if we went with excel they are £601.00 and trust me Turkish Airlines are great to fly with. If we only go for 2 weeks though I will go charter as I can get it for £358 (these prices are for 2)I would prefer Turkish Airlines but £200 is too big a difference[:0]

Take care

Well I have learnt more about flights this week than all last year so thats a result for sure. Thanks Gail, Mushtaq steve etc... As I'm going for the full 3 months in August to November I might compare Excel to Turkish Airlines. I was also told about www.FreeBirdAirlines.com from one of Karens work mates who flys to Dalaman dont know anything more but they are quite cheap

I used Turkish Airlines from manchester in Dec and they are far superior, more legroom ,leather seats, and a footrest + free drinks.
Given the choice it would be TA every time, but they dont do Scotland :-(
