Yes I had noticed it was added to, although I was wondering why I am unable to edit my own post's.

Re: Holiday Insurance List

NewHorizon Msg 1 & 10 - Can you put a link to our web site as we have more than one UK based insurer which gives a choice for comparison and we can also offer travel insurance for residents in Turkey to other countries rather than just UK to abroad.
Many thanks
Tom

I think when a certain length of time passes members cannot edit their own posts, however a moderator or admin can.

If you want to add to it I can add info for you or if you make a new post I can merge it with your Post No.1 of this thread.

Maybe if you took a banner add out on the forum you might get a better response, sooner than just being on a list!

Although, If your companies details are not included in my original list it is because no member here on this forum had recommended or mentioned it at the time I put the original list together, which the intention was not one of advertising for companies to make money of but simply to be able to locate a already mentioned company with a bit more ease.

If it's already on the list (under a different name) then why should it get more than one mention just because the company trades under different names?

Re: Holiday Insurance List

Well oldfogey thank you for the list you have made regarding Travel Insurance. It as a big help as it gave me loads of options to try.

It would seem however that unless I am prepared to pay 2000 to 3000 (for a single trip) I am un-insurable.

We have been trying all week to get cover, all to no avail, I have been on the phone all morning, literally all morning, have a pounding headache and have now decided to give up.

Re: Holiday Insurance List

Sorry to hear you are having problems getting travel Insurance Icebern09.

I assume this is due to pre-existing medical conditions for which you are awaiting further tests/results or have seen doctor/been to hospital within last 12 months. This is where Insurance companies tend to get quite fussy.

I don't know if this site below will help it's aimed at people who have had/have illnesses and offers more specialist quotes for specific illnesses like cancer etc

Travel insurance companies and brokers - Cancer Information - Macmillan Cancer Support

I assume it will be expensive though.

Hope you find something or at least set aside enough funds to be able to travel back if any need arises.

Re: Holiday Insurance List

Thank you Newhorizon for your input and for trying to help. I have however tried all but one on that list already, the one that I hadn't tried were very helpful ("Its so easy travel insurance") but quoted me 1815.45 for the single trip. I can see the insurers point of view, but it does leave people like me in a bit of a no win situation.

Thanks anyway.

Re: Holiday Insurance List

Just update on Amex Insurance handled by Axa-Assist, these must be one of the top insurance companies in the way they handle claims and treat customers.

I recently submitted a claim (non-Europe) and it has been fully accepted and settled.
I hurt my back on holiday in India and extended my stay to 6 weeks incurring penalties on flight changes. Then a couple of days before we were due to fly back they called to check if I was okay to travel (I was!), if I needed a wheelchair (I didn't!) etc and even upgraded my entire flight to Business Class all sectors so I'd be comfortable, but it took an extra day for them to sort out ticket from economy to Business (not their fault but Emirates and time differences, so stayed an extra day in India).

For many years I travelled without insurance but in the last 5 years always buy insurance and decided if I was paying for an insurance premium it had to be adequate and cover me IF I ever needed to claim. If you have any medical conditions no matter how small please disclose them.

In the past I have used Topdog (very cheap!), Columbus direct, but now only use Axa-Assist/Amex, they do cost a bit more than others but at least I know I will be covered if needed, the cover chosen was comprehensive, worldwide.

(Oldfoggy in the list -there are 2 lists ones used by TLF members and others, the ones used by TLF members are any of those where any one has claimed do you know?)

Re: Holiday Insurance List

I'm not sure (don't know) basically they are companies that members had said they had used and were very happy with.
But I suppose some of them must surely fall into the category of having claims made against them.

1) The companies at the top of the list are known to have been used by people who may suffer from one or more medical conditions that require reporting to the insurance company to be able to be covered.

2) The second part of this list are companies that deal with various types of insurance some including medical conditions.

Re: Holiday Insurance List

Thanks for the clarification oldfogy. Well, if the members are happy with the company that should be enough, whether that was due to price (value for money), level of cover or successful claim one will not know.

I can say as far as Amex goes I am happy with level of cover and the claim was successful! So was well worth the paper the Policy was written on!

BTW incase anyone is wondering I don't work for Amex, just sharing the result of a travel insurance claim.
