Turkish Daily News
British Airways, which has 294 aircraft in its fleet and flies to 215 destinations in 94 countries, will increase its flights to Turkey, adding a third daily flight from Istanbul to London and expanding its service to other parts of the country.
The departure time of the new flight to London's Heathrow is 13.50 and between London and Istanbul is 10.30.
Another change in British Airways summer schedule will be flights from Izmir to London's Gatwick Airport. The number of flights between these two points will be increased from three to four per week as of June 2006.
At a press conference held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, British Airways Turkey Trade Manager Ayşim Arda provided information about new arrangements of British Airways. Flights between London and Izmir would be operated with a B 737-400 every Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, she said.
Mentioning that as of May 2006, they would operate scheduled flights between Dalaman and London twice a week, Arda said that those flights would be operated by British Airways franchise partner GB Airways. She stated that prices they had determined three years ago were an important factor for the increase in the number of flights and added, “Our prices are very flexible and competitive.”
Arda noted that with the start of new flights there would be a big increase in the number of tourists coming from Britain to Turkey.
Stating that they began to use an electronic ticketing system all over Turkey, Arda said that tickets can be purchased from the
www.ba.com Web site and reservation changes, hotel reservations and transfers can be made over the Internet.
