taking a car to turkey

Hi all
Can anyone tell me how long you are allowed to keep a British car in turkey.
Thinking of driving there next year and staying for six months.
Many thanks:

You can bring it in for 6 months ( to the day ) and then it must be out of Turkey for 6 months. You can then bring it back for a further 6 months after that you cannot bring it back in again.Hope this helps.

Correction you can bring a car in as many times as you wish if you follow the 6 in 6 out rule.

Re: taking a car to turkey

depends on the way the regional authorities interpret the rules ...a friend of mine used to leave his car in kos for 6 months at a time. the customs told him to get residency as he was back and forward a lot .he did this then he was told he did not have tourist privaliges and had 3 days to get his car out of turkey for good.

Re: taking a car to turkey

Stuart we had the same problem took the car out for 6 months came in at Cesme and were told as we had residents permit we were no longer able to bring car in.

I know Sleepy has been bringing his car in and had no problems, maybe he is lucky, maybe its where he brings his car in. We did bring a car back in for the 2nd time on a residents permit at Bodrum, I think it depends on the port authority and who is working the desk that day if they are having a bad or a good day.

If you are just coming for 6 months then would bring your car but after our experience wouldn't really bother after that.
