Dacia Duster

I would be very interested in hearing from anyone who owns one of these, especially the 4x4 diesel Laureate, whether in Turkey or the UK.
Are they ok for distance, comfort etc, they appear to be economical and functional which is what I am looking for. I am looking to replace my well loved works Suzuki Carry mini van that is now 9 years old and done nearly 50,000 miles. She has served me proud and I will be sorry to see her go, but needs must ! a bit like wives I suppose and time for a new younger model.

Look forward to any input from my fellow TLFers

Martin

Re: Dacia Duster

Google "Honest John Dacia Duster" & you'll get a review from the Telegraph's motoring correspondent.

I don't know about the specific model but I worked in the motor trade for a number of years & he is the only motoring correspondent I take any notice of

Re: Dacia Duster

I bought a new one whilst in Turkey, drove back to the UK in it three times. Since back here I have bought a Nissan Juke..........................Duster for me every time, for cost & comfort. It did not have the "bits & pieces" that the Juke had but I would certainly recommend the Duster. Bought mine in Soke.

Re: Dacia Duster

I sadly still work as a self employed contracting electrician, albeit part time. I mainly do testing and inspection etc etc now so the mileage is generally low.

429 about 6 years ago we bought an Audi which turned into a dangerous disaster, honest john had some advice that enabled us to get a full refund, so thanks for that.

Spurs I knew someone on here had mentioned the duster, I'm sure it was yourself so thanks for that,.

We called at the dealership in Stockport today and they treated us as complete mugs, I will just go and speak to my manager etc. I only wanted a print of confirmation of price, very 70s 80s customer service, so I called Manchester and they came up with the info we asked for within 10 minutes. I will probably go and place my order tomorrow, just want to be sure I'm on the right track

Do not have the petrol one, I can only speak for the diesel. Been told the petrol ones drink it up. Good luck.

Re: Dacia Duster

I see CarBuyer has voted it the best 4x4 for the money.

From what I have heard, they are simple but reliable and can really take some punishment - as well as being easy to maintain.

The top model offers good equipment and reasonable quality, at a bargain price.

Re: Dacia Duster

It will be the diesel even with my lowish mileage, Steve perfect 1949 has a diesel 4x2 90hp laureate and he loves it, says it's a far better drive than his previous doblo. So I am hopeful

Spurs - when you returned for good did you drive back in the Duster? Price /customs/ tax - is it worthwhile (or possible )to import one from Turkey?

Re: Dacia Duster

I bought a 4x2 diesel duster Laureate in Turkey last November. So far I find it really comfortable and am happy with the purchase.
