lounge at Stansted

Anyone used the private lounge at Stansted? Is it worth the money - quoting 20 per visit.

Re: lounge at Stansted

Hiya. Yes I have used it and have booked to use it again in October. It is right down near the Ryan air gates so is a good 15 minute walk back to the mono rail. We had a warm snack which was very nice indeed and of course tea coffee and drinks, snacks and fruit are all free. Or already paid for which ever way you look at it. If you register with something like Topcash.co.uk you can get a couple of quid back too!!! It is just a nice way to start your holiday or trip. You can sit somewhere clean and comfy, be waited on and watch the planes move around. More than pleasant on a hot day as it is air conditioned. I like it and think it is worth it. No doubt some one else will think it pricey. Try it. If you don't like it, don't do it again!. :-)

Re: lounge at Stansted

Is this lounge open during night time hours? Just thinking it would be worth it if your flight came into stansted after 12/1.00AM and you were connecting with an early morning Ryan air flight to Ireland.

Re: lounge at Stansted

Also states only open for customers from 3 hours before their departures. I wonder how strict they are with their timing?

Re: lounge at Stansted

I don't think you can check in much earlier than that can you? When you book you put in what time you will be there and it is recorded on your confirmation. We have not arrived too early nor stayed beyond our three hours so don't know how strict they are.

Re: lounge at Stansted

I think it's a bit much if even if the flight is delayed they will not allow people to stay longer than 3 hours.

Can I take this opportunity to also clear-up a thought/question.

What exactly do you get in the lounge?
Someone said food and drink is free, which I find hard to believe or do they just mean things like a few nibbles or a glass of pop (none alcoholic drinks)

Alcohol is free. Food is ok, better than nibbles but not a three course meal.

Sounds as if with free booze the lounges could soon be the places to avoid on a par with the clientele at all inclusive drink yourself stupid hotels.

Re: lounge at Stansted

But it's not free is it?? You have paid 20 to be there in the first place. At Stansted I had a decent chicken korma. I don't like a big meal as I am going to be sat on a plane for 4 hours so it was more than adequate. OH drinks wine and has a couple of glass's. At Stansted it is laid out like a bar with waiter service for the food.At Gatwick it was self service. Tea, coffee, soft drinks, crisps, fruit, snacks. I felt not as good as Stansted though. There is a dress code and behavior code so if anyone does get lary I would expect them to be removed. We like it.
