THY a good airline, Food-booze-23K luggage included however, if it's their 'camel class' Anadolu Jet carrier, forget it! THY ticket is red, the other blue. Change planes at Istanbul but booked luggage goes all the way to final destination. Do NOT buy duty-free booze at Manchester, It'll be confiscated through security.

You can buy duty free. If you tell them at the checkout they will seal the bag with the receipt inside. We have done it several times. Don't wait to be asked though...offer the info that you have a connecting flight.

The security booze tag legislation only applies (by law) to EU member Countries. Rest of the world is up to the discretion of the mood of the custom officer on duty!

Re: turkish airlines

Duty free from Manchester is no problem providing it is in a sealed bag, the luggage limit depends on the ticket, most Manchester being 20 kg, tickets are classed a,b,c etc and if you get a cheap ticket its usually 20kg I think hand luggage is 8kg very comfortable and decent service

Re: turkish airlines

When I bought duty free at Manchester in June I was asked if I was travelling on to another country, that's the first time they have asked that question ever...and that's for at least 4 flights out each year for many years.

Re: turkish airlines

We flew to Bodrum yesterday on Turkish from Manchester, the flight was only booked about 4 weeks ago and was much cheaper than the charters and included baggage food etc.
the aircraft on the first leg was a brand new airbus with the new style seating, business class now has proper short haul business class seating, we were offered an upgrade at a reasonable price but didnt bother as we were expecting the seats to be the cobbled together economy seats.
The new economy seating was also very good with full interactive in flight entertainment in the seat backs including usb charging, you can also watch your own stuff from your phone or tablet or usb stick.
The food was to the usual high standard and the crew were all friendly enough. All bang on time, the only downside is the bodrum leg has been put back to 9 pm so we went into the greenport bar, im not sure i have lounge access on the domestic side or even which if any exist. A bottle of angora was 58tl so we had that with a basket of chips. There some restaurants in Yalikavak that ask that sort of price
The flight down was also in a brand new aircraft, this time a 737 similar specification to the airbus. We landed at 10 15 pm and there were no other aircraft in so it was bus up to international and we were on our way at 10 45
Well worth considering as an alternative to the rest.

Re: turkish airlines

I've done Edinburgh to Bodrum several times with Turkish and it has been great every time.
No more expensive than Easyjet and flys every day. Takes a little longer because of the transfer in Istanbul but the quality of the planes and service is excellent.
At Bodrum, if you have checked bags from outside Turkey remember to get on the bus to the international terminal. If no checked bags you can go to the domestic.
