Uk & irish visa

This new development (which is long overdue for Non EU citizens) will make traveling between the two jurisdictions much simpler.

Ireland is not in Schengen Martin.
Basically this means folk don't have to make two separate Visa applications..UK and Irish visas require the same supporting documentation.

To be fair if it was a back door, then I'm sure the dm would have carried the story, in a sort of "relief of Calais" sort of way

Ireland and the UK are both in Schengen, its incorporated into the EU charter, but have by agreement opted out of the border control( or lack of) aspect. This could cause problems in 3 years time when after the recent agreement on cross border controls of illegal immigrants Turks will not require visas into those EU countries which have taken on board fully the Schengen Agreement.

Re: Uk & irish visa

İf you currently have a UK visit visa you can use that to enter İreland as long as you have been in the UK for at least 48 hours, it is wise to get an e mail from İrish embassy in Ankara to this effect before you travel.
