Help. Travelling with a baby on Turkish airlines.

I don't know if anyone can help out there. My daughter is going to be visit us and looking at Turkish airlines and wonders if anyone has any experience doing this with a baby, 4-5 months old. She is leaving hubby at home, so doing this alone, with baby on her lap. She is wondering if she can check a car seat into the hold, as it only specifies buggies on their website, and she doesn't want to buy an extra seat for the car seat.
Any thoughts and advise welcome, but leaving baby at home isn't an option lol.
Thanks Sue xx

Re: Help. Travelling with a baby on Turkish airlines.

I recently came off a Turkish airlines flight and find the staff extremely helpful, though I was not travelling with an infant and didn't notice many infants under 2 on the flight.

Although I've no personal experience of this my understanding is car seats can be carried into the cabin or could be put into the hold luggage, but to be 100% sure my advice would be to call the local turkish airlines office, assuming your daughter is coming from the United Kingdom.

Turkish airlines have offices in London, Manchester, Birmingham and Edinburgh.

Here's the London Office details:-

Re: Help. Travelling with a baby on Turkish airlines.

Other airlines allow you a weight allowance of 10kgs or similar plus a push chair & car seat which go into the hold. I'd be surprised if Turkish airlines don't do the same cos they are generous in their weight allowance. She'll be fine with Turkish airlines, flying with a 5 month old is easier than a toddler, the staff will want to hold the baby too I'm sure, I flew loads on my own from when my daughter was about 10weeks old & never had a problem. I'm sure it must say on their website about an infants allowance or contact them direct to check. Have a great time together.

Yes, Turkish airlines allowance is also 10Kg plus a buggy

Infant (0-2 years old) 10 kg + 1 collapsible baby carriage / buggy (115 cm)

source ref: Turkish Airlines - Free Baggage Allowance - turkishairlines.com

I'm pretty sure she'll be fine with the car seat in the cabin or stowed in luggage at no extra costs, but if you want to be certain best to contact them to ask. Both will have good flight with Turkish airlines, the cabin crew are just so delightful. I love flying with them to Turkey...wish I had a baby still as no doubt they will want to make a fuss over the baby.

Thank you so much for the replies. Martine has read your replies, which I'm sure she will find reassuring. Looking forward to spending time with her and my latest grandson, bit of a surprise visit before her mat leave finishes. Just need to source a cot now, baby can always use the dogs basket if push comes to shove, sorry Martine if you are reading this, and you cant respond because you are not a member lol. Xx

Hi I travel Turkish Airlines a lot on my own with my 5 kids they great best airline very helpful you can check in your car seat for free but when if she could manage just hanging car seat on her buggy till boarding the flight if isn't full they will allow her take it into cabin and will give her extra seat so will be able use when baby is sleeping and a lot easier than having t hold baby all of the flight. I also checked in a travel oct free of charge . X
