Modifications to Cars.

Im a petrol/gear head. Depending what side of pond you are from. Would love to have some kind of toy while I am here. Would hate to purchase a vehicle with mods or modify it myself and find out I cant get it inspected. All I know is everyone has window tinting but it will not pass inspection. Assume people get new tint every year.

What do you expect if you insist on standing there by the inspection bay with a kalashnikov in one hand and a tickling stick in the other.

But apart from that, with the tint windows, you'll probably just be taken for one of the locals.

Re: Modifications to Cars.

I see that you are in Izmir. The go-to-guy is BEST SERVIS Performans Modifiye | EcoPower, MaxPower, Chip Tuning, DPF / FAP Filtre Sökümü, Eksantrik Mili, Dynometre, Superchips, PiperCam, Colombo Bariani

After I modified my car engine it was sent up to him for chipping, fine tuning and advice.

I don´t know if he speaks English, but his web site is in English.

immac. Ian, What kind a car do you have? Do you mind me asking what you paid for a chipping? I like there application chart. What they do and the expected hp increase. Also....are the emissions testings strict?

Audi A3 1.8T; I can´t remember the price as it was wrapped up with some other work, but I recall it was comparable with UK prices, and I paid to have the car taken up for some tuning at his garage.
I imported an exhaust from USA, which allows some "switching" about; Emission Testing is strict, so it must be right on the day it is tested - do you understand?
It will be cheaper to import some specialist parts from USA and EU than to get them here, if they are available here at all.
If you are buying an older car to modify, you should concentrate on the bodywork and trim, and just assume you will have to rebuild the whole engine and mechanicals - you can not trust paperwork on service history, as you might in UK, because if they have a mate in the trade he will give them any papers they want and stamp the service record for a cup of tea. Engines you can fix but rust is a problem that can ruin the project. Tip I was given: buy your car from inland, away from the coast, to avoid rust problems on older cars - I sourced mine in Ankara.
