Imagine landing in this

Zero visibility, I don't care if they have complete automatic landing, still scary.

Re: Imagine landing in this

I haven't done it in an aircraft, but I have been at sea in zero visibility . Even with Radar, Sat navigation, etc it is a very unnerving experience to keep going while unable to see a thing.
Landing an aircraft must be thousands of times worse .

Re: Imagine landing in this

Over twenty years ago, during a flight to India, I asked to go up into the cockpit. In those days, this was possible sometimes.

The pilot told me that technically the aircraft was equipped to take off and land on it's own. However, as he said, he didn't think any of us would get on the 'plane if we knew it didn't have a driver!

Re: Imagine landing in this

Although these planes now land on Auto Pilot in severe weather its still unnerving whats going on.I remember going down the M62 in zero visibility in a Fire Engine fully laden to an accident,.I was doing 30 mph and couldn't see a thing, but the que of cars following behind me was considerable. .I think its a case of "I don't know where I'm going ,but I'm Going".
