Re: Turkey to bulgaria

You need the car documents (assuming they are in your name if not a validated POA to take the car out of Turkey.)Green card insurance which u can get before hand or at the border and obviously your driving licence. On exit from the Bulgarian side you will purchase a weekly road tax.."vignette"(any filling station).
Gas is very common there, so almost all stations sell gas.

Re: Turkey to bulgaria

Its basically 3rd party insurance as your Turkish insurance will not cover you in Bulgaria.
Took the ferry recently it was either 30 or 50tl as I recall.

Green card insurance is where you get "Ripped off" in Turkey!!...lol....it can cost anything from 300tl upwards depending on where you get it. Here in Bulgaria it is just 10 leva!!

Just out of curiousity- if you take an "M" plated car out of Turkey, which is registered in your name, and get the green card insurance, can you get coverage for a secondary driver (non family member) who is not listed on the Turkish car documents as an authorized driver? just wonder as I'd like to drive into the EU with a friend, and would love being able to share the driving!!

The laws regarding 'M' plated cars only being driven by the owner (or close family) are limited to Turkey. Overseas anyone who is insured may drive it with the permission of the owner.

Re: Turkey to bulgaria

Yeah, I have lived in Bulgaria for 6 years now, and Gas for a converted car is not a problem as most garages over here supply it plus it's a lot cheaper here than Turkey. My Green Card here in Bulgaria only costs me 4 leva for 1 year from my Insurance Company.
