A bit of good news for the staff.
Yes for the time being, what I don't understand is that part of the issue with TC was having high street shops and maintaining them as the industry moved over to the internet so I just wonder if Hays will have similar issues at a later date.

Re: Thomas Cook

It sounds like Hays have got their business model sorted.

I thought the shops were profitable but dragged down by the overall general mismanagement of the company.

Re: Thomas Cook

I think there were several factors that contributed to it.

Quote from Begbies Traynor is the UK's largest professional services consultancy, specialising in areas of corporate recovery, insolvency, finance and more.....

Quote:
As Hays bought the stores from the administrators, it means it will have bought them at a lower price than if Thomas Cook was still trading.

Julie Palmer, partner at Begbies Traynor, said that in waiting, Hays had got a "best price" for the stores.

However, she questioned the logic for the transaction at a time when customers are turning away from High Street travel agents.

"You have to wonder what Hays' plan is and how they can make it a success.

"Has the travel firm been gung-ho in trying to secure a cheap deal without assessing the viability of taking on these stores?," she asked.

Re: Thomas Cook

Hi
what can i claim for regarding the collapse of Thomas Cook?bought tickets for Bodrum - Bristol on 11th October, ticket not ATOL protected ,on CAA website it stated that ticket holders after 6th Oct to find theis own way home we managed to purchase flights (what a relief) to Luton and then had to make our own way to S Wales.
Are we able to claim for latest costs or for original Ticket Bodrum- Bristol?
We are substantially out of pocket but were happy to buy flights but none of this was caused by us(apprciate many others in same boat). All advice greatly appreciated
Thanks

Depends entirely on your holiday insurance, policies have limits as I found out last night searching for a new annual policy, did you pay for the TC tickets by credit card ?

Re: Thomas Cook

Your credit card should cover the cost of your TC tickets, albeit one way if that was the only part you were unable to use, other friends of ours who were non credit card flight only without ATOL were guided to their insurance companies, have you tried ? they will likely send you back to claim off your credit card provider.
