Are you saying that the unemployed Thomas Cook staff shouldn't get benefits like
every other unemployed person?

If you read the article, its the government agencies who can't make their minds up as to whether they should or not.

Re: Thomas Cook

To be fair, I read the Thomas Cook story after this one which highlights how those with the most really perceive those with the least, anyone being made redundant has to go through the same process and are grouped in with those we know take and offer nothing to our society.

Re: Thomas Cook

All these mistakes in dealing with people. Wrong forms sent, told to apply for the wrong type of benefit. Who is accountable for this?

Exactly....I was made redundant once and couldn't claim for 12 weeks.

And I don't recall the article wording saying 'Thomas Cook's lazy and feckless workshy staff are now benefits scroungers'.....those would be your words and opinions.

Re: Thomas Cook

Shoddy treatment of employees who have paid their NATIONAL INSURANCE all their working lives.
That's what INSURANCE is for and the government NI scheme is a recognised contract in insurance law. The insurance is to cover sickness, unemployment, disability, child benefits and retirement pensions.
They should consider a class action against the government on the basis of failing to treat customers fairly. (TCF)
first move is to write and complain officially. They have 8 weeks to respond and offer a solution. After that time, or if they cannot resolve the claim the insured can tun to the Ombudsman who will adjudicate.
I'd love to see this get under way.

I claimed a refund of the unused part of our return tickets and had a payment from the credit card quite quickly, but they refused my claim for replacement flights, said I should claim from TC (ha ha!) I'm dealing with this another way and if it works I'll post the advice on here to help anyone else out of pocket.

We had to return DLM to Schipol Amsterdam and then KLM scheduled flight with their Cityhopper service to Cardiff. The cost was just under 900 flying with Corendon, a Dutch charter company.

The other problem that has arisen is that now TC is no longer flying from Cardiff their slots have been taken by TUI.
I checked flights to DLM for next April, returning mid-July. The cost for 2 adult returns was just over 1600. They obviously only want package holiday customers.
Got the same flights with easyjet from Bristol for 307.
