The new way of flying

We flew with Qatar out of Edinburgh to Thailand back in February just as the Covid was moving west, we noticed the difference in approach to the issue at Doha, temperature testing on arrival before we went into the lounge, lots of staff and passengers wearing masks, experience tells me that even without a pandemic the further east you travel the more of the locals wear masks as routine.
Phuket airport was similar.

Today I got an email detailing Qatars new safety measures, it would take the enjoyment out of flying for me, imagine having to wear all this gear.

I don't enjoy flying,never have
Don't get me wrong, I'm not scared of flying by any means but I certainly don't enjoy it
It feels like there is not enough oxygen in the cabin air to me and with having sinus trouble , my nose lining usually swells up and squeezes tight together so I end up breathing through my mouth and then my ears pop
As soon as the plane lands and the doors open, everything goes back to normal

I also struggle with my nose when flying, always got an Otravine at hand, I find the A350 and 787s to be better than the older aircraft though due to the vastly improved ventilation and filters probably.

Re: The new way of flying

I used to regularly holiday in America: loved the country, but hated the flights. After my last trip to Canada in 2011, I decided that was the last time I would cross the Atlantic by air; flying had become so unpleasant, even with upgrades, security so demanding, and the total travel times stretching to 20 - 24 hours when you factored in road transport and security at both ends: I was done with it.

On top of that, flying always gave me respiratory infections, which, while never serious, took weeks to pass. In the present virus problem, there is no way I would get on a plane for a holiday.
