tosher will become famous soon enough
British holidaymaker

Having read some of your articles from some who have residencies in Side, Turkey. I am more concerned than ever of booking another holiday in turkey.

I have holidayed in turkey most years from 1993 and I found the country and it's people very helpful and lovely. But with ISIS and the problems that this has thrown up are the Turkish people more unsettled and are they now more concerned with home issues.

I trust that the Side area is still welcoming to people from the UK but I will monitor this web site over the next couple of month to see the under current of threads before I book my holiday this year.

If Turkey looks like they are uneasy with the current problems, then I will book elsewhere. I trust this may not be the case and experience yet again another great holiday in this lovely part of Turkey.

Re: British holidaymaker

The problems will come to the fore at the end of the season, that's when wages don't get paid & these youngsters don't have the monies to take back home for the winter months.
The wife & I saw it about 20 years back, bad season & bars, restaurants owners/renters doing a runner during the night. Workers arriving the next day to nothing.
End of October could be a telling time for some.

Hi Tosher

I agree with Trev......dont let the terrorists mess with your thoughts.....Turkey is as safe as UK/Ireland Spain or France.......terrorist do all they can to unsettle normal behaviour.....they put doubt in your mind and create uncertainty......win your personal battle by booking your holiday as usual and enjoy yourself as usual.

Re: British holidaymaker

You wouldn't know there was any trouble in Turkey along the coastal resorts, apart from the fact that they are a little quieter. I would think twice though about a visit to Istanbul or Ankara. Put you worries aside and enjoy your Turkish holiday.

Re: British holidaymaker

We have lived here full time for almost 12 years. We feel as safe as ever and my husband's reservations are saved for when he goes back to the UK. He said that he feels like a stranger over there and definitely more unsafe than he does here. The Turkish people hate what is happening and you are assured of a warmer than ever welcome from them when you come on holiday.

That is true, but given that IS are crazy, but not stupid, it begs the question why they have not bombed a few tourist areas. If they want a real impact it is the resorts that are obvious targets - like Tunisia, where one attack effectively finished off the tourism overnight.

Re: British holidaymaker

You are right, of course Ian but if that happens, and I pray it won't, then it will be devastating for tourism, the same as Tunisia.
