Re: Permanent Loving Home Needed

As regards donations, occasionally a visitor that comes in for a book will leave an extra 20T.L. or more as I always tell them where their cash is going. We also get lots of donations in the way of towels, bedding, clothing, toys, household appliances and knick-knacks that we sell at the Table-Top on Sunday mornings at The Flying Horse. Overall, we tend to keep up with the costs, only occasionally during the winter do we fall a little short. When that happens, Cengiz and myself just make it up as we need another 15k of dried cat Food.

I also have a light at the end of the tunnel as regards homing this kitten.
I popped in to see the vetinary nurse this morning and she's been in touch with a German couple that endeavour to rehome disabled and blind cats.
We're all doing our best and I'm still certain, we'll get a result.

Re: Permanent Loving Home Needed

Good news all round.

The 'German couple' turned out to be a Swedish girl that used to be a tenant of ours before moving in permanently with her partner here in Side.

She's taking our little blind kitten, along with another very poorly sighted kitten that he's been sharing a home with at the vet's over the last week or so. I know this girl very well, many people around Side know her more for the work she's done over the years in association with the dogs' home in Manavgat.

Given chance, I'll pop back down the vets and take a last picture of our baby and his new found friend. I was there before work but, my camera was here at the office. A classic case of 'Brain not in gear'!!

My faith in humanity, once again restored.

Re: Permanent Loving Home Needed

Well jakebeak, here's a good start to a really happy ending.

Here's our little blind kitten with his equally blind, new-found friend.
They are now away from the vet's having had their 1st injections but they'll remain in Turkey with their benefactor for another 4 months or so.
During this time, the course of injections, along with regular health checks will be undergone, they will also be chipped and passported.
After their sterilisations sometime next February, they'll be ready to make the trip to Germany where they will be homed together as house pets.

We are indebted to the young lady dealing with this through the animal rescue charity that she's involved with.
She's taken many totally blind cats under her wing and we were chatting about how they live a full and happy life, given the right environment.
Basic things like playing with toys that have bells in them and even climbing trees! Apparently, blind cats climb trees quite fearlessly and make their way back to the ground without any problem.
I'd never thought about that because sighted cats are very good at getting up into trees and equally good at having to be rescued when they bottle out of making the trip back down.

The website for the organisation that has taken these two kittens on board is
www.limon-vergessene-seelen.de

It's actually in German but can be brought up in English via Google.

Thanks to each of you that took an interest in this little man, a 1st class result.

Re: Permanent Loving Home Needed

I enquired at the vet the other day about this poor little mite and apparently, they put him with another blind kitten they had and someone gave both of them a home. I am so very glad this had a happy ending as we were unable to commit to a kitten that needed to be indoors all the time. Our door is always open for our two cats to go in and out as they please and our villa was totally unsuitable for this little boy. It broke our hearts that we were unable to give him a home but I'm sure that the lovely people who took both of them home will give them all the love and care they need!
