Re: thinking of a 12 month rent

Although I've lived in Side for the past 12 years, 6 months of each of those years, and have bought 4 x properties in Side ... I have never heard of Key Properties, nor of this Jenny ... and when I looked it up on Google just now, nothing appeared! Where are they? Who are they? Are they new? And who is Jenny ... English or Turkish? Is it just her there? Very odd eh?! The one estate agent (Emlak in Turkish) that I can highly recommend is Kale Emlak which is owned by Cengis (pronounced Jen-Giss) and Ann Philpot works there too. Ann is English but has lived in Turkey for donkey's years and speaks Turkish as well as English fluently. They are both lovely people, reliable and trustworthy. Their website covers rentals and properties to buy, so take a look ... my one for sale is on there too and they are the only Emlak in the Side area who have taken prospective buyers for a viewing ... although I am registered with several other Emlaks for that sale. Here's their website - - and of course my apartment for sale at 40,000 including all the furniture - - http://www.kaleturkishproperties.com...911_152036.jpg x Angela x

Re: thinking of a 12 month rent

You are well advised to rent, that is what I did in Marmaris. One thing about going to a big resort is not speaking Turkish is not such a big handicap and you can get around quite easily. If you use the large resort as a base you can travel further afield to less touristy places perhaps and look around. In Marmaris for instance you can hire a car and visit Datca and Bozburun. In season, just before Datca is a ferry port, there you can hop on a ferry across to Bodrum, or then again if you were in Bodrum why not hop on a ferry the other way. Use public transport to make a day of it, you can get most places quite easily and cheaply. The dolmus is very practical, most drivers don't speak English but they understand you when you tell them a destination and they will stop and tell you to alight. I have never been to Side but I imagine my experiences would apply the same there. If you are in UK I would suggest not committing to anything, arrange appointments to view, then when you arrive look around. Rentals can be done the same day, so do not be rushed. Many hotels, especially small ones are open off season and will do very cheap deals. Travel Republic do very cheap, and if you want just basic for a few days then it is great. Just look at the hotels available to start, and bear in mind some will be very small pansiyons with the owner available not just the big boys. It really depends what you want.

Re: thinking of a 12 month rent

A good point made by Brexiteer in the above post for you Mike ... why not stay in a cute little b and b to start off with? Look at Antonios Motel which is right in the heart of Old Town Side; it's a typically olde worlde Turkish b and b with each of its rooms having one double and one single bed + 2 balconies ... one with a table and 4 chairs and the other without ... they also put on a good, big buffet every night for an extra 8 per person ... OR the Golden Star Hotel which is right on the beach and next to the promenade, offering free sunbeds and sun umbrellas. All the guys there speak English and there are over 100 items on their menu. They have a small secluded outdoor swimming pool too and the rooms are large... OR great value for a 3-star All Inclusive hotel just a 2-minute walk from the beach and the promenade is the Side Miami Beach Hotel... next door is Yildiz Bar/Restaurant which has a big TV screen where you can watch live football and rugby, etc from anywhere in the world at the time but best to book that a day ahead... I agree, Travel Republic are probably the best ones for prices for these hotels... x Angela x
