Damp & air con

Hi

Can anyone recommend a decent company that can sort out damp proofing> each year i have the same problem and they do the same job informing me that it won't come back!!! obviously it does. I need to sort this out permanently as my villa seems to have a reoccurring problem.

The other question i have is does anyone have an air con system that turns itself off when you open a door or window. Do i need to have a new system or can this be adjusted. any suggestions would be great

It is model dependant, but most have a low voltage control facility. It needs an alarm type cable, wired to a magnet type door/window switch, security alarm type. A bit of a faff to install but does the job. I have seen this used in Turkey.

unless your house is built to a better standard than normal you will never get rid of the damp as they don't put proper foundations in.most turks i know come back to their holiday home for the summer and paint over the damp .

I cant remember the name but over on the Fethiye page there was someone selling auto-shut-of controllers, which had various settings, one of which was if it did not detect any movement within a certain length of time then it would turn off.
That sounds like what you want, but the downside is you can't just lie around forever in the cool without moving.
'IF' I remember correctly they ranged between 50 to 90 each.

This is the same thing Energy Saver turns off air-conditioning if no one is in the room - Air-Con Monitor occupancy sensor - Eco-Energysavers
but the person on the Fethiye forum has the concession/franchise in Turkey.

EDIT:
I have sent immac a message so they may contact you.

Actually thanks for also reminding me as I was looking at these years ago but must of got sidetracked and thankfully now from memory the price has now also dropped, so time to order a couple of units.

Whilst on the subject of energy saving there was also a water saving device that automatically turned of if a constant very small flow/leak was detected for a certain time level or even a full flow (as in broken pipe) then it automatically turned off.
But will require a plumber to install it.

I had proper vents put in every room whilst our villa was being built, I even went & bought them myself and showed the builders where to put them. All well & good till they rendered the external walls where the saw fit to render over every one of them........yep I made them sort it & never had damp.
First & foremost I think you should look where the damp is coming from ie near patio doors, toilet etc. If you have any more info on that score it might be a help for getting some advise on here.
